OK, I know there have been a few threads about self tanners and which ones are the best out there. But a lot of these threads are a bit old, so I was wondering if anyone has tried any newer self tanners (drug store or otherwise) that are:

- idiot-proof

- believeable (does not scream, "see my streaks!")

- easy to apply

Looking forward to hearing your opinions! It's springtime and I need to tan up these white legs!!!

i just got the L`oreal Sublime Self-Tan spray a few days ago and I have used it a few times already! and i love it.

i think its definately worth the money. its a really fine mist that sprays onto your skin really nicely, and you don`t even need to rub it into your skin.

you have to hold the spraycan pretty far away from your skin, and then spray the skin evenly and slowly so the color stays on your skin.

and for the parts that are naturally lighter (feet, hands, knees) i just spray it with the can even further away!

its really quick, and easy! and beautiful tan color.

i love love love love love it!

Wow! Ok, I will give that a shot. Now, I am considered somewhat fair, though not super fair. What color would you recommend? Does it tan very deeply, or is it subtle?

i think it just depends on how close you spray to your body, and how slow you are moving the can around.

i went really slowly around my body and my tan was really noticeable. but no streaks ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />.

I love Loreal Sublime Bronze in the spray can too. It is wonderful. I am an extreemly fair skinned person and after two applications, someone at work today asked me if I have been going to the tanning bed. I find that it works best if I rub it in real well after spraying it on. Then I wash the palms of my hands so I won't have brown palms. I am real pleased with the results. I saw it on sale at Kmart last weekend and bought another can because I know I will be using this product all summer.

How long does the spray last for???? I have a wedding next week and i wanna try it out. I would like to try it out this weekend in case i mess it up.

Is it safe to put on your face? I try using self-tanners and I am always scared to use it on my face and then my face doesn't always match my chest and body.

Well, ok I will give that a try but if it is anything like the Neutrogena Micromist in a can, I used that stuff for a whole week and did not see once bit of color! Very disappointing, and I usually LOVE Neutrogena products!

I'll pick some up today and let you all know :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have been using Olay Touch of Sun for the past few weeks and if you want something VERY gradual it is. It is the first self tanner I have ever used to not leave embrassing streaks.

I use Sun Essentials Sunless Tanning Lotion from Mary Kay. It's the first one I've used that doesn't give me an orange tint.

Some tips for applying evenly are to exfoliate in the shower with a body scrub before applying. Pat dry your skin to leave some moisture which will help to evenly distribute your sunless tanning lotion when you apply it.

For rough areas such as elbows, knees, etc. mix with another body lotion for more moisturization without adding too much color to those areas.

I just bought the new Banana Boat one with the two sides. One side is a moisturizer and the other the tanner. They had $5.00 off coupons so I bought it. I haven't tried it yet though. I'm trying to use up my Jergens first. btw...I'm also going to move this thread to the Bath, Body, Fragrance and Beauty in General Talk forum. That's where most of the Self Tanner threads are. :cheer2:

All self tanners make me orange except the moisturizers with the self tanner in them. They should not streak unless you do not exfoliate beforehand.

It lasts for three or four days. You are supposed to apply it every day until you achieve the color you want and then apply just once or twice a week to maintain the tan.

I haven't put it on my face. I am thinking of buying the one especially for the face and experimenting on my fiance this weekend. Tee hee.

I use one by maybelline w/ a bronzer so you know where it is and don't over apply or miss spots.I love it.It is instant results w/ the bronzer and gives me great even coverage.:devilish:

I just tried Nivea Summer Glow today in the Fair to Medium shade and so far it looks good :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I've never used self tanner before, but it went on really easily... you just apply it like body lotion. The colour looks pretty natural to me, but this is just the first day... you're supposed to see full results after 5 I think. I don't see any streaks at all. It doesn't even smell bad. I'll update in the next few days, we'll see how this goes...

I like Jergen's Moisturizer/Gradual Self-Tanner. You get a light tan in about 5-7 days.

I'm using Johnson's Holiday Skin ( bit of a cult product here in the UK) and I've read a few reviews about it not streaking, easy to apply. I've only used it for the last 3 days and do see a slight difference - but as it's the first self tanner I've used I'm not quite the expert and therefore have been trying to be good with the application.

Maybe read up on this one? I can report back in a week's time I guess where I hope I will have a more gradual tan colour!

I've been using L'oreal and Jergens since last yr.Went the other day and bought more. And also picked up banana boat, the one with two sides. And L'oreal tanning gloves, they are new.Haven't tried them yet.

Well, I have been using the L'oreal Sublime spray in medium, and so far I like it since it is easy to apply and dries pretty quickly. I have used it 3 days in a row, though, and the tan is very subtle. Not sure if that means I should step up to the dark shade or just keeping using it for another day or two.

Any thoughts from anyone who has used this one before?
