Okay, so I got my hair restyled today...

and quite frankly, I'm not 100% positive yet, but I think I hate it!

The pictures I've taken look even worse than it looks in real life, but I don't have my camera cable at work, so I'll upload pictures later tonight or tomorrow, if I can get a picture that doesn't look hideous.

Basically, it was long, straight, brown, no layers, nothing.

It is now shoulder length, with a side fringe (bangs - which I DO like), dark brown with blonde highlights, and lots and lots of (really short) layers.

I think I hate it. Granted, I did let him choose the colour, and I should have asked for something more natural, but I was quite clear about what I wanted with the length, I showed him this picture:

so how he came up with the style I have now.... I have no idea. It was fine when he first cut it, but then after he'd coloured it, he kept hacking away, and I couldn't really see what he was doing back there

I'll post pictures as soon as I can face my camera, and find my cable, and you can see the before/after shots... at the moment I took 5 photos and I almost cried, they look so awful - way worse than they look in just the mirror!

I mean, sure, it's hair, it will grow, and also, the style actually looks really good, but it just isn't my taste or personality at all. I love classic things like pencil skirts, pearl earrings, heels, original tiffany... you get the picture. The hair looks nice, but it's totally funky and such, which isn't my style at all!

And obviously, I can't go back and ask for them to change it, one, I don't want them anywhere near my hair again, and two, it's already way shorter than I asked for or wanted, so I can't possibly do anything about it.

I'm guessing after a few washes, and styling it myself (if not re-dying it!) and letting it grow in, I'll be used to it, but right now, I feel kind of upset, even though everyone says it looks really go

od, it's not ME.

Awww...im sure it'll just take some time to get used too! Cheer up....I'd love to see the pics, I bet it looks fantastic

I can't imagine you looking bad in anything, Rosie. Give yourself some time to get used to it and maybe you'll like it.

im sorry your cut isn't your style but your amazingly gorgeous hun and you will look great even with a shaved head.

Lol, Oz, at least it's not shaved... i guess that's always an option if I really do hate my current hair!

well the old wives tale is you shave it, it grows back thicker and fuller. Or so they say lol.

Can you still tie it to a french roll or something classic? Straight sleek pony?

Can a hair expert correct me or smack my hand for saying this BUT maybe get those coloured shampoo's you see, one for browns that could dull it down a bit.

Ever since you told me this morning I have been dying to see it! All day I have been trying to picture this style on you, I THINK I have a good idea what it looks like, can't wait to see photos though! Remember the difference between a good hair cut and a bad one is usually a week or so, give yourself a few days to get used to it before you do anything drastic! Atleast you have the weelend to adjust!

Not a good idea to use a brown colour depositing shampoo over the blonde highlights. Becuase its not a chemical dye and has a tiny amout of direct dyes, it will more then likely turn the* blonde a murky, dirty colour.

Did you tell your stylist to do 'whatever he wanted' when you satt down in the chair? Or did you give some suggestions and tell him to do what he wanted as long as he followed some guidelines (ie. nothing shorter then shoulder length, no short layers)??Comming from the other end of the spectrum, it can be really difficult for stylists to please each and every client, a lot of the times (and im not saying that this is the case with you) the client will describe something, we'll do exactly what they described, then they'll be upset with the end result...its not the cut they are upset with, its the way the cut looks on their face/body. Its a tricky situation. None the less, it is every stylists goal to make each client love their hair, and if it were me and my hair that i was unhappy with, I would most definetly go back and speak with the stylist....a lot of the time it can be a miscommunication. Theres not much that can be done about the cut, but color can make or break the style...if you are unahppy with the blonde bits, having the stylist throw a demi permanet colour over them can make the world of a difference.

Goodluck!

Oh that sucks that you don't like it

I know it's only hair but it's still really awful to get a haircut you don't like. I've been almost in tears as the hairdresser finished and asked me if I liked it and I've still went "Yes thanks, it's great! *fake smile*" lol I'm such a wimp

I'm sure you still look gorgeous as always though!

I think newly cut hair always looks a bit dodgy and especially cos you've got a new style altogether you're not used to it yet. I think once you get used to it, wash it and style it and have a mess around with it yourself you'll feel better about it

Very good advice. Now you're gonna have me wondering what your hair looks like all day! I'm sure it's not as bad as you think.

LOL! I'm adding them right now!!

Thanks HairEgo, that def. is good advice.

I did show him pictures, and said what I wanted - it to be easy to grow out since I'm currently growing it, not too short, I wanted more volume and I didn't mind a change...

he said that he was going to make it lighter, which was fine, but I thought he meant all over, so the blonde would have been fine if the base colour was also lighter, you know? it's just more extreme than I'm used to, but it's growing on me, and the side fringe is exactly what I wanted, it's sitting how I wanted and everything, so I'm happy with that.

The length is the only thing I wasn't happy with, and the crazy colour. But like I said, it looks good, it's just not my normal style!

anyway. I'll add the pics into my original post

oh, and it's got more blonde in it, you just can't see it in those photos very easily

I love it, Rosie!!! really stylish!! and omg!! your sister and you look like twins!!! Cute twins at that!!

awww, thanks karren...

it IS growing on me... but yeah. It's just because it's a huge change is all
smile.gif

You look totally cute Rosie! I can see how your haircut and the cut in the picture do NOT look alike, but in all honesty your cut is waaay cuter!

I love it!
