for my bio class at school we were offered the chance to get 10 points of extra credit on our final grade, owever the stipulation is that we have t participate in a study to get the extra credit. the study is on rate of hair growth in females. any way the way the study is run is that the hair to be tested has to be died (all the way to the scalp in order to distinguish the amount of growth).

you do not have to dye your whole head, so i will not be. however you do need to dye enough that they can get at least six hair (i know that is like barely any but i figure i will have to do at least a 1 inch square just for ease of application.

any way i do not want my whole head (since i have spent about 2 years now growing out damaged and colored hair), and plan on doing one streak just behind my right ear, i was looking for sugestions on what color to do, i kinda wanted to bleach that one piece to white blonde but i am not sure if there will be enough of a diffrence in the hair color and mine to be valid.

so any, and all suggestions are welcome.

and just for refrence this is me, and my current and natural hair color. (this is the color in natural lighting, but indoors)

Can it be a semi/demi permanent? Or does it have to be permanent? If you can use a semi/demi, I would go with maybe a level 7 blonde...since you are a natural blonde (based on your pics im going to say a level 8-9) putting a slightly darker blonde will still let you see the colour difference when the hair starts to grow, plus a semi will wash out anywhere from 8-10 shampoo's, and a demi will wash out anywhere from 16-20 shampoo's. I also guess it depends on the rate of growth for your hair.

If you want to bleach out one piece to a white blonde, you could definetly do that and im thinking (again based on ur pics) that you will be able to see a colour variation. I think if it were me, Id prob go the demi permanent route, even if you do a level 6 instead of 7 it will take longer to fade out as it is a darker shade of blonde.

they didnt say, but i think permanet would work better, just cause well as you know demi fades and even though it wont fade completely on my hair, it want to ensure the hair demarcation of growth is enough that they can determine how much it has grown.

however i will be sure to ask on wensday, because i think the demi is the way to go since i dont want to have to chop one section of hair with dye starting half way down

If it's for science then I'd go for a full head of purple!! yeah!! Probably get a better grade too!!

So are you the one on the left, right?? There's been a lot of gender confussion today! hahaha

Keep in mind too that you dont have to do a full strand, you can part your hair in a way that you can just apply near the scalp so that when your hair is down or up, you cant see it anyway. Also keep in mind that colour develops quicker and more intense towards the scalp becuase of the heat that is given off..

karren! hahaha im on the left of the picture (the blonde one)!

also i forgot about the whole heat effecting the dye, so the stripe will be more noticable. i am definately asking tomorrow about demi permanet, cuase if i can use demi i would rather do that than even the bleached out piece

How about some highlights in your hair? That way it won't look funky like a single stripe would, you'd be able to do a more noticeable color as well. Unless you're dead set against it because of your past hair problems.

dude,if you do a streak behind your ear go fire engine red or cotton candy pink or uber bright teal.and use manic panic,it won't damage your hair doesn't have harsh chemicals and color isn't crazy permanent,if you want crazy permanent buy some special effects.

plus both are quite inexpensive if you find them at the right place.

LOL! I was just thinking to myself that if it was me, I'd do a streak of either red, blue, or hot pink.
