My beauty mark on my cheek had to be removed!

I just came back from the dermatologist and now I have a bandaid on my swollen cheek, and one stich. I tried to ask the dermatologist how he would rate the mole (benign vs malign) but I guess he didn´t wanna take a guess until it has been analyzed by a pathologist.

It got noticeably darker over the past 6 months or so, it´s very dark brown now with a bit of a blueish tint to it, and it´s a tiny bit uneven too if you look really close. So yeah I can´t lie..I am a bit nervous since the cheek is a very sunexposed area and with my skintone I am in a higher risk class for melanomas!

I´ll keep you guys updated..the pathology report should be available in a few days.

And may I add even though I know it was necessary to remove the mole, I loved it!!! But it had to go :scared:

UPDATE: The pathology report came back saying it´s benign. I was worried for nothing...but I will definitely be even more careful with the sun as I already am now!

That's exactly what I was going to say! I've had to have several moles removed from my back and I have to be very careful in the sun. Too much tanning when I was younger and now I'm paying for it!

Its funny how our bodies have a way of turning on us.

I just had a cyst removed from my left arm - very ugly thing.

And I have had several moles and cysts removed over the years - including three from my face. All have come back as benign.

Hope that yours comes back benign as well Andi

wow good for you. I am only worried because the face is exposed to so much sun throughout the years if you think about it. I swear either way I will wear sunblock on my face everytime I leave the house from now on!

Aww,,,I hope everythings okay Andi. I got the mole above my eye removed (but that was my choice), and it was kinda weird at first without it. I mean, it had been there all my life. You'll get used to it though. It'll be okay.

yeah I think it´ll be weird for me too, especially cause that was the only mole on my body that I truly liked. I will keep the bandaid on for a while cause I don´t really wanna see how it looks like underneath...and lets hope the scar fades quickly! But still, going out this weekend is kinda out of the question with a stich on my face (and it´s carnival! bohoo)
