I am getting highlights as my valentines present. I have had them before, but I can't remember what to ask for cuz it's been like 4-5 years since I had my hair highlighted. What is popular in highlights nowadays?

im not sure what is popular, but i would ask for thin highlights (they are less noticeable when they grow out) but more of them as for color i would see what the stylist suggests the wont steer you wrong and will know what kind of colors are atainable

If you don't plan on monthly maintenance of your highlights, I would opt for peek-a-boo's. That way when it starts to grow out you wont see the roots.

I agree with HairEgo... pick a color only a few shades lighter or darker so it won't be as noticeable when it grows out if you aren't planning to keep touching it up. So you could get a different brown from what you already have just to add dimensions to your hair.

I really like caramel highlights or a red or burgundy with brown hair.

Thin, peek-a-boo highlights, in a colour your stylist will recommend. She'll be a better judge of it.

So I DID end up getting my highlights. I asked for her to make them so when they started to grow out it wouldn't be as noticable and she did them really thin. I love them
