ok couple of months ago i went to a dermatoligist (excuse spelling) and she said not to use moisture or sunscreen at alll at all and till today i dnt use buttt im really scared that in couple of yrs down the track im ganna get spots and wrinkles even worse then pimples so what do u guys think change to another dermatoligist or its right what she said because everyone else even beauticians said i should use and that the dr is stupid so what u think ?

Hmm. That seems like strange advice, especially coming from a dermatologist! Did she say why?

If you use a foundation with SPF, you probably don't need extra sunscreen. I've always been told to moisturize, though, and I have oily skin.

that is strange. get a second opinion, did you ask her why

wow, you live in australia and you were told not to use sunscreen???

That sounds reaaaally dodgy. If spots are your problem, Im sure there are plenty of sunscreens out there that are non-comedogenic. I use Neutrogena dry touch spf 60 and its fine, doesnt break me out.

Also, Im sure there are plenty of natural moisturisers out there that will not cause spots, try something with tea tree oil in it, for instance..

But please do use sunscreen, ..your dermatologist sounds a bit scary! :S

i'd say go see another one, get a second opinion, that doesnt sound right, even less living in Australia

she's not right :tocktock:

I'd say find a new dermatologist. :kopfkratz: :gruebel: :smileno: Your current one is giving you bad advice.

Yeah....every dermatologist I have ever seen has jammed it in my head that wearing a sunscreen is the most important thing for your face!!! Not only does it help against skin cancer but also pre-mature aging from the sun.

Get a 2nd opinion but if you can try and wear MMU. Many brands are reported to help w/ acne and they have a natural built in sunscreen.

The gals have given you great advice, seek a second opinion. I had surgery on my face in October to remove a large cancer lesion. I'm 48. As a youngster, I did not have the products that are available today. With skin, so much damage happens when we are young, but shows up as we age. I don't need to look younger than I am, but I don't want to look older than I am. I feel that having a scar on my face doesn't help the look. The upside, having that scar is how I found MUT! I had a great surgeon, he did a great job on the repair. People ask me where the scar is. You can't see it when you not close. I see it every day!

You are a young, beautiful girl. Wear sunscreen to protect your lovely face

(and the rest of you)!

im just curious as to why will she say that? are you under going some special treatment or something?

I agree with everyone....get a second opinion!

Everytime I visist my derm, she's always nagging me about USING sunscreen! lol!

That's very odd. I would use a sunscreen or at least foundation that has one in it and moisturize!

i will never leave the house w/o sunscreen. 1st i dont want to be aging fater than it is. 2nd. i dont want to have skin cancer, 3rd I have these sun damages that i want to get rid of it for years, It is hard and expensive!!

I think you should get the second opinion!

yeah, that's pretty strange. are you suffering from any serious skin problems?

i also suggest getting a second opinion. find another dermatologist.

it's common knowledge that sunscreen is VERY important defense against sun damage!

moisturizer is also a basic skin regimen.
