I went to a new hairdresser last night, same place just a new hd (my old one quit & they don't know why...here today, gone tom.

), this girl seemed to do a really good job (a little rough but the cut seemed good, of course, the real test will come when I try to style it - my first girl there use to cut it dry, then the girl who quit cut it wet & this girl cuts it dry - gesh...I don't know which way is right

). Anyway, she blowdried my hair and then flat ironed it - but, I noticed my hair was still damp as she was flat ironing

- I asked her if this was okay (knowing it wasn't) & she said yes -- the hair isn't wet its just a little damp

. How much damage do you think she did? I should have asked for another apt., when they rescheduled mine, I never like to be the first or the last...& guess what.....I was her last client (I guess the salon was just working us in, because of the situation) I could tell she was in a hurry...

, she was running about 20 mins behind.

Thanks

I dont think it should be too bad. Maybe give your hair a rest from blowdrying/straightening for a couple days?

Unless your hair looks really damaged I don't think it would be too much of a problem. x

If you're questioning your stylist, which sounds like you have good reason to, you need to move on to a new place.
Your hair is supposed to be cut when wet. The only time when I had my hair cut dry was to get rid of the length and then she washed my hair and cut it while it was wet.

Honestly I have never heard of dry cutting. So what's it for? Other than chopping length off before the styled cut.

Supposedly, flat ironing/curling should be done on hair that is not fully dry but you also should not her "sizzle" like your hair is being fried. I'm guessing there's a scorch level if the hair is to damp.

IMHO, cutting hair dry gives you more of a "glimpse" into what length it will truly be as well as how it'll look styled. Whereas cutting it wet you run the risk of the hair shrinking up a bit and the cut being slightly or vastly shorter than you meant for it to be.

I've been told to never flat iron wet hair as it can damage it. I've never had anyone flat iron it wet either, so I'm not sure how much damage it truly would do. I also know there's flat irons that are made to be used on wet hair. I'm sure Janelle will have much better info here, but I would lay off the blowdryers and curling/flat irons for a few days to be sure there wasn't any damage done.

You should be fine as long as you don't make a habit of ironing it damp. A deep conditioner should be more than enough.
