How can I get Retro Waves?

I have a wedding coming up this friday and I really want to do my hair something like this:

I have tried every variation with curling  irons, hot rollers, and even heatless methods but it just simply will not work. My hair is very long , about mid-waist so its very heavy and anytime I curl my hair even with tons of hairspray it lasts only for about an hour and then goes back to being stick straight!! I was wondering if anyone here could offer me some product recommendations that will hold my curls for a majority of the time if not all night. And also an easy method to get this look would be much appreciated as well!! Thank you very much!!!!!

I honestly do not know how because I hav SUPER thick hair from my mom and dad. Maybe try using the strongest hairspray you can find, or maybe have a stylist do it for you. Hope the wedding went well! /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
