Will getting your layers point cut instead of blunt cut cause your hair to appear thinner on the ends? I'm letting my hair grow out (it sits right on my shoulders now) & have been getting the point cut layers, but, my ends seem so thin (see through in front area) I'm not blessed w/thick hair so I really need to be careful w/haircuts - should I go back to the blunt long layers?

My hair is wavey, fine and hi/low lighted & for some reason very dry.

Thanks

Sometimes it can actually make it look thicker, especially when the layers flip or curl slightly at the ends, when the curls are all different lengths it looks like you have a lot more hair!

It just depends on the cut though... I think if you get too many layers, or let the longest layers get too thin, then it may make your hair look thinner. But some layers shouldn't hurt anything and may actually make your hair look better!

Hopefully Janelle (NYAngel98) will stop by this thread, she always has great advice!

I prefer the blunt layers, but that's just me. I have very subtle layers, but it's from the way my hair grew out rather than having the layers added on purpose.

Well it depends on the style you're going for really... if you want it a little messy or more like a shag, then the point is usually better. It can sometimes appear thinner on the ends because you're looking at ends that are different lengths -- as opposed to one straight line. If you want the blunt cut, it will usually appear thicker in the back at the ends. But sometimes TOO blunt of a cut can make layers seem choppy.

Thanks....I think I'm going to try the blunt ends & layers this time - if I don't like it I guess I can always go back to the point cut layers & blunt ends.
