I had my hair cut very short about a year ago, and I've been trying to grow it out (sloooow process). About 6 weeks ago I got a short bob-type deal that's a bit shorter in the back than the front:

Now I need a trim or to do something with my hair again, because it looks like crap on a daily basis, and I can't make it curve in all neatly like that anymore. Should I get the same cut again, or do you think I should do something shorter? I was looking at these two cuts:

What do you guys think? Also, does anyone have any ideas for the color? I want something funky but not blonde!

Thanks!!!

I like the first one as well. I think you would look good with cool or neutral based colours. Stay away from golds and red.

What about dark blond highlights in a neutral or ash tone?

If it is long enough on the sides get the haircut where the back is shorter then angles in the front. This cut looks good with highlights so i'm sure it would look good in another color maybe red.

If you really want to grow it long, hang in there, don't cut it short! If you are having trouble styling the cut as it is growing out, the cut might be too "heavy" or just wrong for your hair type. I would explain situation to hairdresser and maybe go for a few more layers. Make it "lighter", a bit flicky or wispy at the ends. That way you can just let it do it's own thing. Also, by cutting in some shorter layers, the longer layers will appear longer. Don't take any length off bottom layer. You will feel like you got somehing new without loosing length.

Yes, I have some experience with growing hair out. My tip: don't think about the "end product". Have fun along the way. Experiment, but keep the layers long. I spent two years of going to hairdresser every 8 weeks and chopping off 5 millimeters each time. Lol. Patience!
