Often women are confused about all of the gels, treatments, and other products for your hair. About.com narrows down the top 10 hair essentials every girl should have!

1. A Good Brush. The higher quality hair brush, the healthier your hair will be. The best brushes have rubber bases with boar's head bristles.

2. Shampoo. Only use a 1/2 dollar dollop of shampoo. Wash once. Best basic shampoo time and time again has been Pantene.

3. Conditioner. Conditioner is important because not only does it condition your hair it protects and seals the hair's cuticle from damage.

4. A wide-tooth comb. Great for combing out wet hair, also prevents breakage.

5. Shine Serum. Shine is appealing, and it can give your hair a healthy look. If you have fine hair, use shine spray instead of serum. Don't use too much of either or hair may get stiff/sticky.

6. Talcum Powder. Great for absorbing oil in between washings. Go easy on part and hairline.

7. A blowdryer. Pro-Tourmaline is one of the best.

8. Volumizing Mousse.

9. Straightening Iron or Curling Iron. A flat iron for curly girls, and a curling iron/rollers for us straight haired girls.

10. Hairspray. To keep your everyday look in place, go for a flexible soft-hold hairspray.

Hope this helps! I thought it was a good list myself!
