When you go blonde, you take all natural red tones out of your hair, leaving no base color. The base of ash is greenish grey, so it deposits straight onto that blonde hair with no natural red to tone it down.

You need to deposit a WARM color on your hair. Something with a gold base will cancel out that ash. Your roots may be a problem, and without looking at your hair, I don't know what to advise you to put on it. Your best bet is to go to your local beauty supply and tell them you need a light brown/dark blonde in a warm neutral or gold shade.

If you have to resort to walmart/drugstore dyes, get a semi or demi permanent, and stick to golden tones.

i've been where you are years ago! its got that gray/purple tone because you used an ASH dye.

i dont know if where you live they sell color removers (color OOPS is one sold here is the US), but you can try shampooing several times with a clarifying shampoo (or even dish soap to fade out the purple/gray). then recolor with a WARM brown shade that has RED tones.

when you went platinum, your bleach stripped out natural red tones. before you can go back to brown, you have to add back red tones. without any red color, your hair gets left with that grayish (sometimes greenish) purple color.

best of luck to you!

I opened this thread thinking it was the one I started a few days ago......

I did the EXACT same thing!!

I know exactly how you feel, I destroyed my platinum colored hair, by putting a medium ash color on top. I ended up with grayish/greenish tinted ends.

What I did was went to the drugstore, and picked up a box of dark auburn with warm red tones, and used that on my hair. It completely removed all of the gray/green/purple tint, except now my hair has a slight deep red color to it.

I guess it's not too bad, seeing as how it is the fall, but I will be coloring my hair dark brown again after halloween.

The problem is we both used an ash colored dye on top of the blonde, when we really should have used the red first, then follow with a brown or darker blonde.

I would go back to the store and get a dye, from the same brand your using, only look for one in an auburn color. (With Red tones) Use that.

It may not be the color you want at first, (slightly more red) but after 2 weeks (or right away if your hair can take it) you can color over it with the color you initially wanted, and it should work out no problem.

I hope this helps, and don't worry, theres more of us girls out there with hair that matches yours! Your not alone!! LoL

Let us know how it works for ya!
