My hair stylist just recently moved to a new salon/spa. Well, she cut too much off the last time (as I'm trying to keep it long), but I figured everyone makes mistakes, so I called to make another appointment today. Here's where the new salon/spa move comes in - When I called, the owner answers the phone, and I got a time for tomorrow to go in for a cut and color. Anyhow, this woman (who just owns the place - knows nothing about hair/skin/nails or makeup, told me that I had to give her my credit card # in case I cancelled (which I never do). I just said "well, I'm going to have to call you back". I decided not to though, because there is no freakin' way I'm giving out my card # so they can charge it if I can't make it because of any emergency, etc. So therefore, she just cost my hair stylist a client. I hope I'm not being to harsh, but WTF? You pay a fortune to get your hair done and then they try and screw you on top of it! I say "bad move" literally on my stylists part.

Hi there, actually i can see your point.I myself would not have given my credit card details, especially over the phone to some stranger. Secondly the cheek she had asking you,,,i remember i was going to go for a beauty treatment...when the woman asked me for a deposit i cancelled there and then.I felt insulted and she lost a good customer who tips well.

yeah, i understand too. you have to be careful about who you give your credit card info to..that sucks. it's hard to find a good stylist these days..

yeah i wouldnt give them my c.c. number out. if i want to cancel i call, you know i dont think ive ever paid in advance for a haircut/dye job (ive also gone to like 3 people in my life for hair cuts. im picky).

I would have been ticked. I think you made the right call -- it's exactly what I would have done, too.

Hopefully, you will find a new, even more compatible stylist and be able to say this all happened for a reason, in the end.

Eeek. I've never known a salon to ask for a deposit or to ask for a credit card number over the phone. It's probably a good thing you didn't.. Too bad the hairstylist lost a client. I hope you find somebody else that you like.

I won't give my card #......if you had a history of canceling with this salon that but be different.........but no way.......bad way to start a new relationship!!!!Maybe you can talk directly to your hairdresser and give her the low down......if she doesn't help....ask around to find someone else with a good reputation.........GOOD LUCK!

I don't think you should give your CC number either....If you really really want your old stylist to do your hair, and you don't know how to go about doing it, I would call the salon and speak directly to her and maybe schedule to her yourself. Explain your situation, and I'm sure she'll find a way to work around it if she wants your business.

I wouldn't give the CC# either. That salon is probably HOPING people will forget to call and cancel so they can still cash in. I would try to go there in person, and see if your stylist is available THAT day... and if possible... wait there for an opening.
