I am a little over 55, and I get so many great ideas from you guys. Would appreciate any good advice for us "mature" women that have skin that has to be dealt with more carefully.

Dark circles, and loose skin under the neck, and the good old double chin.

Way to Go!

I loved it the way you used mature women.....I'll have to keep that in mind. Have you tried looking through the product reviews? The opinion of others is always very helpful and honest in trying to find a good product that works. Good luck!

I have tried different neck products and most do nothing but moisturize. But, philosophy's When Hope is not Enough replenishing cream does work for the neck area. I Have used it for over a year and am happy with it.

I went to Costa Rica and got $35,000 worth of plastic surgery for $11,000 from US Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. They were the most honest, caring and excellent plastic surgeons. I was very safe in that country and the people love Americans. I got a face lift, eyes upper and lower, eyebrow lift, neck lipo, body lipo, and a little bit of Restylene in my upper lip and in the nasio labial folds. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sign me 6l and very happy with my looks.

pj03079I am so very thrilled that you had the courage to have this work done. I would do it in a minute. But my husband is disabled and I still work but we are both trying to survive. This sucks. I look at my face and don't want that much except jowls, laugh lines, and neck lift for my double chin. I would love to talk to you. I would love to see a pic of you. You must be so happy and gorgeous. Hope to hear from you. Where do you live.

On MUT there are mostly younger women, and I have been waiting to chat with someone who can relate to me. Thanks for your honesty and glad you are very happy with your looks. You deserve it.

SheilaRose,

You can e-mail me at [email protected] and ask me anything you want. I would have replied sooner, but my darn computer wouldn't let me respond to your thread and so I am doing it now.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Can you let me know what your name is. I will e-mail you as soon as I can. You seem like a real doll.
Whereabouts do you live.

I am from Pa.

Hi,

My name is Joy and I live in NH, but my daughter lives in Harleysville, PA.

E-mail me later and I'll give you my telephone number if you want to talk on the phone.

There is a site I can tell you about all the women in the US that have had plastic surgery in Costa Rica with my doctors and rave about them. My husband thought I was nuts to go there and he gave me a hard time about it. But when I cam back and healed he was thrilled and admitted it was a good thing that I did. It has done a lot for my self esteem.

BTW these are very conservative doctors who are known to give you a natural look and not that wind tunnel look. I've been there twice and I just love those doctors because they treat you like gold and are so kind and caring.

Great links Kimberley! Thanks! Sheila, have you checked out Paula Begoun's website (thecosmeticscop.com or paulaschoice.com)? She has great info for skin care regimes of all ages!

My cousin had a double chin her entire childhood, even though she was quite thin. When she was 25, she had liposuction to remove fat from her chin, jaw and neck. She looks great and is thrilled with the results.

On another topic, what is the name of the Costa Rican Clinic or do you have it's website address? I would love to have a tummy tuck but I can't afford one here.

yes...do tell about the costa rica thing. I have seen web sites about it but was scared...but you did it twice huh?

After much research from people who had gone to Costa Rica for plastic surgery I made the choice to go to the Rosenstock and Leiberman Clinic. These doctors are US Board Certified plastic surgeons. I know you must have seen or heard horror stories about plastic surgery; I did too. But I used to belong to several Lap Band weight loss groups. Some of these people need plastic surgery because they have large amounts of skin that need removed. Also, a lot of women in their fifties want face lifts, tummy tucks and lipo. This is the good part most of the women I got friendly with were in the medical field. Nurses, that had gone there and told me I'd be perfectly safe going. Now mind you, I had gotten friendly with them for about a year while on the Lap Band Board so I did trust them. After they lost the weight they wanted, they inquired about plastic surgery in Costa Rica. Dr. Rosenstock, Dr. Leiberman and Dr. Cohen are outstanding doctors who have gained a wonderful reputation. They treat everyone like gold. I'm telling you they are the most wonderful and sweet doctor that I have ever known. Their prices are about 1/3 the price of doctors in the states and when they give you a price it includes everything. The only other out of pocket expense is your flight and where you stay. It costs about $85.00 per day to stay at a recovery center and that includes everything. I'll have to look up the website, but all you have to do is type in costa rica rosenstock clinic and I am sure you will find them. BTW, my husband thought I was nuts to go to Central America for surgery, but after I was home a couple of weeks he changed his mind and thinks it's the best thing I have ever done for myself. Don''t be afraid to look into it. These doctors care a great deal. They are honest and keep their word. The most important thing about plastic surgery is to listen to the doctors and stay for the amount of time they say is necessary. That's where patients have problems. They get cocky and don't listen to the doctor and leave early. Believe me this is the place to go. I've been there twice and I am so pleased with their work. You will get very attached to these doctor's especially Dr. Rashi because he is so lovable. Anyone who wishes to talk about this more can e-mail me at the following address [email protected]

Hope this helps.

Joy

Here is the group I belong to. You can ask these people anything you want and trust them as they are all patients that have had surgery and new people inquiring like yourself.

Hi there: I am not the person who went to Costa Rico Clinic. But I read about your cousin with a double chin. They only did Lipo on her not cutting. If the skin is just stretched skin wouldn't they have to cut off the skin they just did lipo on. I am much older than 25 so my double chin is more like hanging like you see in older people. My dream is to have lipo to my double chin and jaw and neck. I also have chubby cheeks. I have high cheekbones so that doesn't help.Sheila Rose

This is a great thread. I am not to the point where I am considering plastic surgery, but it's always nice to plan ahead, look ahead, should one want to someday.

pj03079: Thanks a lot for all the great info on Costa Rica.

60 minutes did a story about Americans travelling outside of the US. India was profiled but I'm not sure about Costa Rica.

Did you have to return for a follow up or did you stay see an American doctor or did you have a follow up before leaving Costa Rica?

I had breast reduction in 97 and visited the plastic surgeon a week later. After that I was on my own, unless I developed complications - which I didn't.

Sheilarose: Since my cousin was young, I guess the surgeon felt that she didn't need anything more. She had to wear a supportive bandage which helped the chin/jaw/neck heal to a natural shape and conour.

City-tv in Toronto has a great show called Cityline. They profiled a plastic surgeon showing the latest surgery for neck lifts. It involves both lipo and

removing excess skin. The patient was 60 ish. She looked fantastic after she healed. I have also heard of thread lifts helping skin become tighter.

cityline.ca is the website to find out more info. With the exchange rate, maybe Canada could also be a consideration for Americans.
