I'm currently looking into getting a flat iron and I'm all confused when it comes to heat protectants and products that help straighten and when in the routine you're supposed to use them. I've spent a good bit of time on here researching and I'm even more confused then when I started.

Could anyone tell me what they use and where in their routine they use it to get the best results?

I really like titanium tools hair straigtner you could find it in sally's beauty supply.

This is my routine:

Wash, condition and let hair dry naturally or blow dry.

Hair must be completely dry before flat ironing.

Apply Got2b Flat Iron Lotion, and comb through hair.

Flat Iron hair, constantly moving the iron so I don't scorch hair.

Apply a tiny bit of Got2b Glossy serum to lengths of hair, staying away from roots.

Do not touch/comb/brush hair so it doesn't frizz.

i like silk elements megasilk heat protection spray from sally's, it has a nice scent, sprays out in a very fine mist, and also has shine serum built in to make hair shiny...i use it every time before i use my curling iron (im a curler not a flat ironer but its great for both!)

I air dry my hair and then use my Sedu. Before straightening I use L'oreal TEC heat protector.

Hi,

I just bought the Paul Mitchell flat iron from my hair dresser. It is a bit pricey, $135.00, but it is worth it. I have bought cheaper flat irons in the past and you can really tell a difference when you use the flat iron from Paul Mitchell. I took it to work because one of my coworkers could not decide if she wanted to buy it, but after she used it on her hair she was convinced also.

A salon, Ebay and Trade Secret usually has the best prices.

I hope this helps

Ronda

BUMP, i would like some info too, as i'm looking for a heat protectant. i usually just straighten my hair with NO protectant...i know, i'm bad.:eusa_naughty: please help!!!

Do heat protector products really make a difference? I mean...has anyone tried doing this to their hair with, and then without products in? Did you notice a difference in terms of damage over time? Just curious.

i use cat walk, biosilk, panteen prov restoratives, and aussie leave in. WHen i get out of the shower i put in the pro v restorative leave in and then spray with aussie leave in and biosilk after its dried a little at the ends. I let it air dry and when its almost dry i spray it with a minimal amount of cat walk. When Im going to iron I spray each section with catwalk and add biosilk to then ends and it looks shiney and healthy

in response to damage i just noticed i had to go over my hair less with products to get the desired result than with out

This is my routine:

After showering I apply in this order:

1) Pure Almond oil to ends and all over (a few drops)

2) Light leave-in (Sebastian Potion 9)

3) CK Curl Keeper (can be used for curly and non curly hair) - this is a great serum for frizz

4) CHI Silk Infusion (this is an awesome silkener that apparently protects against heat styling)

5) Section my hair and then blow dry straight with round brush

6) Follow up with my CHI iron

7) Apply Chi silk infusion to ends if needed

Results: shiny and baby soft hair! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
