I used to have the same problem until I started using handmade soap and then using a body scrub. Once I got out of the shower I moisturize my skin with a body lotion such as aveeno or lubriderm.

No worries - you don't see it until you dig into the hyperlinks a bit. I just wanted to add support to your excellent suggestion, and state that the site reinforces that suggestion. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

if you have a bath and body works near you try some of their milk bath products,my boyfiend has the same problem and he uses it and it helps add moisture to his skin, his skin was extremly dry as well.

I like virgin coconut oil for moisturizing, and it also has anti fungal and antibacterial properties if the itching is caused by something. They claim it can get rid of eczema, too. It's great for cooking and you can use it as a dietary supplement for weight loss and general health.

If you have hard water or a lot of chlorine in the water, a shower filter might help, too. We have terrible water where I live.

I have the same problem. It's mostly allergies to the chemicals the put in almost all of our products. The derm told me to use the Cetaphil also. I didn't like the way it felt and asked if I could use the Aveeno Skin Relief body Wash. It's way more moisturizing. I Love it!

i used to be so dry i was always flaky and itchy...I use Dr Bronner's tea tree liquid soap(it's not really a soap) and I moisturize with coconut oil...my eczema is gone

hello girls, thank you a bunch for all your advice!! :rockwoot:

it has helped me quite a lot. I put that aveeno oil in my bath:bath: , use that aveeno skin relief body wash, and then apply the aveeno skin relief moisturizer(menthol) my skin isnt as dry anymore.. thanx a bunch :g: :1f: :hugs3:

I am so glad to read that you are doing well! I have eczema that gets so red and itchy and dry all year round. Cetaphil and Dove beauty bar keeps it from getting worse but I find that Aquaphor helps it to heal during times that I scratch or get really raw and red. If you mix Aquaphor with your moisturizing cream at night it can really help!

I use NIVEA extra enriched lotion, or the cream they have in a blue glass jar (only can find that at Wal-Mart) I also use ivory or Dove soap, Cool showers or baths, and I air dry.

Hey! I definitely know what you're going through becuase I have excema. It's kinda fading now because I'm getting a little older because I was born with it. What I know is that scratching always makes it worse, so I would be a good idea to try not to scratch. To soothe it immediately, I used to take ice packs and place it on the spot that is itchy to kinda calm it down. Personally, lotions never really helped because it always made me feel itchier unless I put it on after I calmed it. Another good idea is to try not to stress out or to oversweat because it can spark the itch. I hope that this helps!

I hear you Amanda. I find that cooling the itch helps. It is SO hard to not scratch. This past two weeks I have been getting SO itchy - at night I scratch the point of bleeding!! During the day im fine but not at night. I put some A & D ointment on the cuts (or aquaphor - either one) to help but have taken to using hydrocortisone .5% when it gets really bad to stop from getting scars. It's safe to use once a day and to clear the skin -then go back to your trust moisturizer.

By the way - lotions are never good for eczema-afflicted skin. Creams -though very heavy and greasy - work much better.

I have really bad eczema too. another really great product...i can't remember if it's been mentioned yet becuz Aveeno has been recommended by almost everyone! Try the Aveeno Soothing Relief Cream for BABIES...it's in the baby care aisle and i swear i use it everytime i start to flare. My sister has had eczema sooooo bad since she was a baby and she just turned 18 so she is starting to care about her skin and how she looks. The eczema around her mouth is so bad and since it's been that way since she was a baby, she seriously gave up on it. it looked like she sucked on a glass jar and it left a dark wrinkly ring around her whole mouth! anyway, she started using the aveeno baby cream and it has gotten MUCH better! almost gone now. I have been prescribed RX steriod cream by my derm but i swear the Aveeno Baby works wayyyy better!

The same thing happens to me out of nowhere! It's only been since we moved to NY though. I think it's a combo between the difference in weather and climate, as well as well water. I haven't been able to figure it out yet!
