Facial hair can be caused by a number of different things: genetics, hormonal imbalances and things like that. You can remove it with waxing or a hair removal cream like Nair. (There's also shaving, but I've heard that shaving a sensitive area like a woman's face will sometimes leaves bumps or something, and it will be a tell-tell sign that you shaved) I'm so sorry it's affecting your self esteem. Just try to remember that you're beautiful no matter what!!!

wax or pluck, shaving is a bad idea just like heather said, a womans face is sensitive to things like that. Plus if you wax/pluck the hair it wont grow back as fast.

You could wax, or go and buy a little product called Finishing Touch, and it vibrates the hair off your face. It works really well, and it's about $10.

A lot of girls have dark hair in places they don't want it! Heck, I have black hairs on my chin, neck, chest, belly button.... which is extra gross because I'm a blonde with very pale skin! How come I have so much nasty body hair? lol So don't let it effect your self-esteem, you can do things about it!

Depending on how much hair you have, plucking or waxing will probably be your best option. You can get at-home waxing kits if you don't want to go to the salon, I personally recommend Sally Hansen Cold Sugar Wax (it hurts less than the hot waxes I've tried). Another popular option is threading, you can get it done at some salons or I've seen stands in the mall doing it, it's where they pull the hairs out by pinching them between threads. It sounds weird and it's hard to describe, but I've heard that some girls love it and if it's done right, it's not supposed to be painful!

Some girls bleach the hair, but that tends to leave the hair too light and shiny so it still stands out. Shaving will also leave noticeable stubble even if it doesn't irritate your skin. The hair removal creams I've tried (Nair and Veet brands) also just seem to break the hair off at the surface, leaving the same kind of stubble as shaving. Plus I was allergic to Nair!

I too am a victim of chin hair. I hate it! I shave mine off because in order to wax it, you have to let it grow out long enough and I'm not going around with 2-inch hairs coming out of my chin for a week. I also can't use Nair or other similar products cause I get severe, and I mean SEVERE chemical burns, even leaving it on the right time. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are too costly for me, so I'll just stick to shaving it for now.

Oh yeah, I forgot you have to let the hairs get 3/8-inch long to wax... I have few enough chin hairs that I just pluck them (I can pluck them when they're a lot shorter than 3/8"!)

very detailed, thx u

I think facial hair and other unwanted hair is the norm. If you can really invest in removal I suggest laser. I've tried everything else, but am happiest with the laser. I have my third treatment on Tuesday and can't wait to see the next wave of results. I've already seen a dramatic reduction in hair growth since the first two treatments. Check out my diary by clicking on my signature.

Don't sign up for treatments w/o doing lots of research first!!!!!!!!!!

I get one chin hair (and noticed a neck hair the other day, WTF?!)... I just pluck it.

i'm in that wonderful stage of life where i have stray eyebrows (got that term from an muter, can't remember who) all over my face. i do a "hair hunt" every night after taking off my makeup, and usually wax once per month (moustache only). i try to remember that hair acts like a wick to flick oil onto the skin to keep your skin moisturized, so it does serve a purpose. it may not look all that great, but it does serve a purpose.

isnt there some kinda cream that a dermatlogist can give u to stop its growth i read something about that but forgot what its called

Hazel, I feel your pain. It bothers me also. I tend to turn away or pretend to be distracted when I'm talking to people, so my facial hair won't be focused on. I tweeze the worst of them.

Thanks for sharing your journal Jessica. I've looked into this and will probably have it done after I get the boys thru school. Best of luck!

is it odd to have this and only be 23?

i can see if it was lil hair but thier long i dont even wanna look in the mirrow

is there any thing beside laser treatment that will stop it and make it not come back?

Everyone has facial hair,it just shows more on some people.Just find a method of hair removal that siuts you.You can always bleach, wax or have it threaded off.

I was 12 when I started getting coarse dark hair on my face. My mom took me to an endocrinologist but there was nothing wrong with my hormones. Its gotten so much worse since then, every generation the women in my family have it worse than the one before. I used to tweeve, now sometimes I use an epilator and for hair that grows on my body in weird places I Shave it.

Waxing works great and leaves your face soft. Your hair doesn't have to get THAT long before you can do it again. I only do it about once every three weeks.

I recommend having it done professionally first, to see what it is like and then trying it yourself. I really recommend the Honee Wax that you buy at Sally's Beauty Supply and the Muslin strips. Works MUCH better and gentler than Sally Hansen IMO.

Don't be embarrassed....lot's of us deal with this.
