I had some light facial hair way on the back of my cheeks just underneath my ears, but slightly forward. (Some of us Italian women are hairy, go figure) Anyway, after all these years, I finally decided to try and get it waxed off. I'm self conscious of it when I wear a pony tail in my workout class and I recently noticed it in a photo. :scared: :icon_eek: :icon_redf

So, I went yesterday after work and it was fine, a little red but that's how it is when you get waxed. This morning however,my cheeks are really itchy and a little bumpy (not pimples, but almost hives-like) - and I'm almost 99.9% sure its irritation from the waxing.

What can I put on it to stop the itchy, redness and irritation? I should not have worn face makeup today and I did and maybe that made it worse.

I feel like raking my nails across my cheeks that is how itchy it is.

grrrr

how BRUTAL !! I have no idea what you could do, just wanted to lend some sympathy to you, hope it goes away soon!

Stop by Concord and ask Alan (pharmacist) for something or apply Caldryl lotion (clear or regular) to the spot in question. HTH

I've got that too, I'm just lucky enough for it to be blonde which is fine until you hit the sunlight :madno:

Try some of that Eucerin calming cream, it might help.

I didn't do it myself - I had the salon lady do it.

I still have the Eucerin Calming cream - I will try that - if that doesn't work tonight then I will go to Concord (thanks Rosie!) and ask for Alan.

thanks ladies.

I think I spend 1/3 of my life on hair removal! I already coulda made my husband a hairpiece!!! LOL:laughing:

My face is just so darn itchy I can't wait to go home.

I just looked in the mirror. Its weird because in the area that was waxed, it looks lighter in skin tone. Its not like I had a tan & my face was not dirty! This is so weird because I'm very fair skinned.

u should have left it 24hrs before applying MU, try avoid touching the area and apply some aloe. did you irritate the area in anyway like apply perfumed lotions, washed your face with hot water?

I couldn't tell ya what to do, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry about the itch. I hope it clears up. It sounds like you've gotten some pretty good suggestions. Another thing you might try is to call the salon where you got it done and see what they reccommend.

I know all about this from waxing, threading, epilating, you name it! I *know* steroid creams are not recommended for the face but it's the only thing that has worked for me and I only use a thin layer and one application usually does the trick. Steroids used repeatedly and in large amounts, however, is quite risky (especially on thin skin). I'm not sure how far your inflammation has progressed but if no areas of rough skin/scabs have formed yet then some hydrocortisone cream should do the trick. If I ever felt a reaction I would apply this ASAP before any inflammation started. For a soothing effect Aloe Vera works wonders too.

Just redness, itchiness and slightly bumpy.

I guess I can't wax off the hair there anymore, huh ?

I hope I'm not having a Michael Jackson experience. My skin looks two different shades right now. :sadno: :icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek:

I get this when I wax my brows. I think it exfoliates that area & rips off the old dead skin along with the hairs.

I will - thanks hun. I gotta wait until I get home. I have a huge aloe vera plant waiting for me at home.

I feel like a dog with fleas right now.

You can get laser hair removal on the sides of the face. I'm white as chalk with dark hair and any hair always stands out. Also, Ardell makes a blade that you can go across your skin (it's by the tweezers, nail files, Sally Hansen/LaCross section in most drugstores), they come in a pack of three and they're basically fine razor blades that scrape off the hair. They're very painless and easy to use. The skin around my ears is paler than the rest of my skin, too. It's the same color as my scalp. I think that's pretty normal.

I've had the Eucerin Calming cream on my face for a couple hours now and it helped only slightly.

I'm wondering if I should wash it off and put aloe vera on now?....Its still itchy. :scared:

I think I'm going to the drug store tomorrow to try the other stuff you ladies mentioned. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i did the same thing, and being african american, it made my skin really light in the area i waxed. i used a tea tree and vitamin e antiseptic cream. i don't wax anything on my face anymore. i invested in one of those little facial razors and it works just fine to get rid of those shadowy hairs.

I could kick myself for doing this Monniej :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

its still so irritating. It wasn't even that thick hair - - it was like you said - very faint. I got overly enthusiastic about waxing and I should have left well enough alone. Today my cheeks feel hot, itchy and red. The Eucerin Calming cream didn't work as well as I thought so tonight I'll stop by the drug store and try something else.

Oh Amethyst,

I hope you feel better! I know about the waxing thing..I'm part Italian, too...and I get my brows, chin, upper lip waxed but for the cheeks........OMG ...OUCH!!! For that area I use the Panasonic Personal groomer..or even the eyebrow shaper shaver...to get those baby-fine

ones...that's just too weird and N.E.F.F.

Feel Better, girl!
