Hello,

Thanks for reading this thread. My under eyes are very dark. I have dark circles under my eyes and cover them with concealer. I always try and use an eye cream before makeup and at night. The thing is.. that it never works. No matter what type of cream I use it makes my under eye area worse. I have no idea why, I've tried many different eye creams.

When I say worse, what happens to my under-eye area is it gets even drier to the point where it sometimes even peels and the fine lines get very prominent and dry. It looks horrible and isn't smooth at all to be able to conceal nicely.

I've tried...

- Murad Instant Radiance Eye Cream

- Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream

- Bobbi Brown EXTRA Eye Repair Cream

- Origins - Eye Doctor

The only thing I can think of is that I'm either putting it on wrong (IE: the wrong areas on my under eyes) or I'm putting too much on?

Does this happen to anyone? My honest to God opinion is that I don't really want to put eye cream on because it makes my eyes kind of hurt (the dryness gets sore!)

Any ideas are welcome. Even if you don't know what to suggest for my eye issue, perhaps you can respond with what under-eye cream you use and why you use it.

Hydrating and Repair perform differently, and give different results. I am guessing you're applying too much and / or applying more than one product / brand within a week. It takes about 7 days for your skins' pH to balance out with one eye product. Right now your eye pH is swinging wildly (reacting) trying to balance itself out. I say give your eyes a break from product for about a week so that you can determine how your eyes feel and look like, then get the appropriate eye treatment. Look at the ingredient list, as some eye treatments contain retinol A's and other ingredients which can be harsh.

Repair creams are typically applied at night as they are thicker and help repair the skin while your body is at rest.  Definitely look for ingredients with glycolic or other AHAs/BHAs as these are chemical exfoliants which I'm pretty sure the eye creams you listed do not have in them.  From the way you described it, there might be other ingredients that could be causing a mild contact dermatitis or irritation that is causing the skin to flake and feel burned.  You might want to consider seeing a esthetician who can recommend a professional product like Image Ormedic Balancing Eye Lift Gel or Pevonia Lumafirm Eye Contour.

When you apply your eye cream, you want to place it on top of the orbital bone and no higher.  A good eye cream will migrate to the eye area to do the work it was formulated to do.

I hope that helps!

Wash your face and eye area with a mild soap and warm daily.Eat fruits and green vegetables, which will help keep the skin under your eyes.

You can massage under eyes with olive oil or almond oil at night. Drink lots of water. It will hydrate your skin.
