Hi everyone! So I have really dry skin. Whenever I try to put foundation on, it just looks clumpy and gross! I use, 'Rimmel London Wake Me Up foundation,' which is for dry skin, too. I've tried exfoliating with a home-made scrub, that softens my face but only for the rest of the day, then it goes back to being dry. I've tried moisturising after exfoliating but that makes it go back to being dry again. Is something wrong with my moisturiser? I've read that perhaps investing in a good, hydrating face mask could help but I don't have enough money to go out and splurge on something that may not work. Can somebody recommend any moisturisers or daily skin care routines that could help? I have to wear makeup for a concert that I'm going to soon and I need nice, hydrated, fresh skin. Please help?! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

What kind of moisturizer are you using and when are you applying it? You might want to try a moisturizer that you apply before bed time or use an (vitamin E, olive, etc) oil before going to bed

I'm using, 'Redwin Sensitive Skin Moisturiser.' It's says it has vitamin E in it. I've been meaning to buy a different moisturiser called, 'Simple Light Moisturiser.' I usually only apply it after I've exfoliated or before applying makeup.

Try finding one for the evening and apply before bed. This should help but how much is unknown. It can't hurt to add a moisturizer before bed.

Okay, I'll try that. Thanks!

I like to use natural solutions when I can. I have incredibly dry skin right now - kind of strange since I used to have incredibly oily skin all of my life.  I've gone from one extreme to another!  I use coconut oil for my face, I apply as needed throughout the day.  It has worked rather well - better than the moisturizing cream I was using prior to trying the coconut oil at least.

If you're applying it throughout the day then it's not really working for you. You should only have to apply an oil to your face no more than twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. I would suggest trying an oil mask at least once a week after you steam your pores open and exfoliate your skin. You'll need 2 teaspoons of almond oil or olive oil or coconut oil and whip it with one egg white, apply to your clean face for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse off.

Thank you Zadidoll.  I am still pretty new to the world of dry skin - I'd take oily skin back in an instant.  I can control it better, and less worry about wrinkles too.  I can't wait to try out your mask recipe.  I fully appreciate the advice.

Be sure to apply sunscreen to areas of your body that are exposed to the sun during the day

You might also consider a cleanser that contains ceramides, these are fatty molecules that make up the outer barrier of your skin. They help skin hold in moisture. Some skin care products use synthetic ceramides
