I use dove bar soap on my face. would using the regular body wash on my face be ok? There is no big difference between them. What do you think?

I wouldn't because the skin on your face is different than the one on your body.

Isn't the body wash a bit more lathery (is that a word?) than the one you use on your face.

I use it too and it works exactly the same as the facial wash, so why not just use one for all.

I used to do it but I found a clenser that didn't leave as much hidden makeup on my face especially on my eyes since I use waterproof mascara.

i wouldn't probably try it, unless i'm out of face cleanser. i tend to think if it's labelled body wash it's made for your body. but if it works for you, why not ?

i dont think the dove bar is a soap...it consists of milder stuff. so thats why u can use it one your face. i wouldnt use regular soap on my face...to harsh

I must be lucky or have thick skin because I can use irish spring, dial, ivory and other soaps on my face and have no problems. I tried the dove body wash today and I had no problems with it. I like to switch around cleansers. so this might be something I can do when I am in a hurry.

My dermatologist has stated that bar soap contains wax, which can clog pores. He recommends a liquid cleanser.

I use an el cheapo dollar store liquid cleanser.

IMO, a lot of skin care products are all hype and no substance.

If you have found a cleanser that works then I say go for it.

Soaps/cleansers are not my problem products. Lotions/moisturizers/treatment are the products I have issues with. they either irritate the crap out of my skin or they break me out.

"Lotions/moisturizers/treatment are the products I have issues with."

These products can contain unneccesary irritants such as fragrance and colouring. Do you look for products that state they are for sensitive skin?

Companies like Proctor & Gamble and LOreal have huge budgets to do a lot of research. Neutrogena is a good company as well.

These companies may have reasonably priced products that you might benefit from - less the unpleasant side affects.

I always recommend talking to a Pharmacist. Some are quite good at explaining the ingrediants of skin care products - and if they will cause problems.

I have tried products from olay, ponds, neutrogena, cetaphil, loreal, garnier nutrist, clean and clear, biore, eucerin, and many other brands I can't even remember. I have not tried anything from aveeno. I have been looking into their line of product.
One thing that does work for me is applying ponds cold cream to my skin. Let it sit on my skin for 10-15 minutes and then wipe away with a warm wash cloth. I massage in the left over film from the cold cream and that is it. My skin loves this stuff and my skin looks so good when i use it.

I think I need to learn to just use what works for me and stop trying all these other products.

My mom swears by Ponds. She has a fit when she heard it was being discontinued. I don't know if it is or not, in Canada, but she stocked up anyways.

I agree that you have to use what works for you. To be honest, I don't do a lot with my skin, but I am a huge Retin A fan. I don't use any moisturizer.

And I exfoliate with a tsp of a baking soda mix with my cleanser 1 or 2 x week.

I wouldn't use something made for the body on my face, but that's just me. If your skin can handle it then it's your call. Everyone's skin is different.
