Does it matter what heat protectant I use?

Does it really matter how expensive the heat protectant is? Does it protect your hair any more then a normal drugstore one? My mom finally got me one after me convincing her that it would help my hair and she got the Suave Professionals heat protectant spray. It says it helps protect hair from heat up to 425 F. Is it good enough?

I've never really loved heat protectants. I find that they leave my hair feeling dirty and don't really help. I suggest using something like Moroccan Oil on wet hair before you dry and iron it. I've noticed a drop in how damaged my hair gets from daily heat styling. You could also try a shampoo/conditioner routine that helps your hair build strength to handle all the ironing. Suave Professional Damage Care is a really great affordable option!

I also dislike heat protectant sprays but recently tried Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Dry Styling Oil and have been using it for a month very liberally twice a day. It really absorbs right into the hair shaft and does a does a good job of protecting my hair. I do still spritz a tiny amount of heat protectant spray where I get split ends.

No, price doesn't always equate to better quality. Have you had good results using the Suave or found a heat protectant you liked?

Actually while price doesn't matter you do want to use a heat protectant with little or no alcohol in it. I can't recall which Garnier product recently has been accused of causing spontaneous fires when using it.

WHAT? That is really scary! And I use a bit of hemp and argan oil as my heat protectant and it works well. The price of a product doesn't mean it would be the best for you, so a drugstore product could work well with you, just try it out, if you don't like it my advice is to stay with the drugstore level first and if it doesn't satisfy you to look something more high end.
