I'm always skeptical about high-endskincare products such as Dior, Chanel, Lancome...etc. For instance, in terms of anti-aging products...each brand, even drug store brands...claim to have a break-through "technology". L'Oreal uses "Bowsleox"...Dior's new "Capture Totale" uses something called "Longoza"...etc.

How do we know that Bowsleox isnt as good as/if not better than Dior's longoza? Do you trust high-end Skincare products? or do you think you're just paying extra for the brand name and packaging?

It all depends. The best thing to do is research the company. Find out where the money goes, sample the product, what kind of studies do they do and do they take part, ....personally experiencing is the best route.

I choose my company (and they are on the high end of skin care) because of the following...

It worked on my exzema, cleaned out my product graveyard closet one by one, and I could see and feel a differance.

They do there own research at Arbonnes Research and Devolopement in Switzerland. Our packaging has gotten better over the year and is recylable. We test on a human panel. We use only the active parts of the ingredents used. (Anyone can claim to have an herb but their is only one of the three parts that give results which is the active part of the plant and anyone can list it as an ingredient even if it has no use.) We have no plants baught from areas that use harmful sprays like DEET. I can go on and on....

I pay for the differance and what works but lucked out because they had a 45 day money back guarentee and a wholesale program.

Other high end products I try I stick to samples and word of mouth like places like MUT to be sure I am not buying a bomber....

That's why I love sites like MUT that give reviews. It makes selecting products so much easier!

I totally agree! I have learned so much here. I see things in mag's I would buy just to try and now I look here first.

(My man appreciates this place too, lol! Saves us cash! )

it depends... some companies I trust more, some less (like Dior for example, I dont trust their skincare at all, once I got expensive eyecream from Dior and it was horrible). I usually read reviews before I buy anything.

I never buy High end spf anymore. They don't have good quality filters. I heard Shiseido is not too bad, but it is really expensive, I prefer Avene, La Roche Posay or Vichy, at least I know they give me good sun protection.

Japanese companies that put alot of research into there products are the best, like Shisedo, Kanebo etc. I love there skin care lines. I have very sensitive skin and oly, and acne prone skin, and took me years before I found a brand that treats my skin well, and that was Shisedo, without breaking me out. I don't trust products like Lancôme, Dior, MAC for skin care products...

i think that every product, whether high end or drug store, works differently on everyone. i love, hate and am addicted to products in every price range. just because they don't work on me doesn't mean that they won't work for someone.

Lancome is good sometimes but it's way overpriced.

I think I trust clinique (not with spf though) because I bought many things out of their skincare and I was rarely dissapointed. I also like the cosmetics that do not have fragrance (skin irritant).

Places like Make Up Talk and Make Up Alley have saved me so much money in the past year. Otherwise I'd be trying all sorts of high end and low end things with a hit or miss approach.

nah IMO I don't think any of that boswelox, collagen filler and all that stuff in high and low end products is any good. I think a lot of it is hyped up and way overpriced. I don't trust any of them because they seem to loaded with ingredients and end up breaking me out in spots and grease all the time. When I get older (say mid to late 30's) I may invest in some Olay Total Effects but that'll be my limit!

ditto!!

I don't believe in any if that bowleox/longoza stuff...probably the best anti-aging ingredients are anti-oxidants (Vitamins A, E & C) as well as SPF - all of which are found in drug store products!

I have used both..as others said it depends on how it affects your skin..Some high-end I love and some low-end and a lot of natural...good ole trial and error at times..:icon_bigg

I dont trust them anymore or less than a drug store prod but I do expect a little more from a high end prod since Ive paid the high end price they should be able to deliver.

I have used both high end and drugstore and it really depends on the product, sometimes its worth the money sometimes its not. I use all different kinds based on the kind of results that I get.

I think that a lot of high end products are over hyped by the sales assistants etc of course some are really nice like I love Clarins self tan range and their moisturisers (very expensive!) but their cleansers aren't anything to brag about and they burn my skin like hell!

every high end product i tried never worked. i do like mario badescu if you thats high end i dont know, but i mainly use just cetephil

i'm never a fan of high end skin care products coz i think it's just all about money and your paying more for same result with other brands. i prefer skin care products that is recommended by my derma or made by derma....or if it hapens to get a lot of good reviews here in MUT or MUA, i would probably try it.

I guess that's one of the reasons I use mary kay, since I know that the money isn't being spent on advertising but rather on the products.

Lancome skin care is great IMO, but it has WAY too much fragrance. In terms of why Lancome's is better than L'Oreal's, it's all about concentration. I LOVE lancome's Resolution moisturizer, and I know that it's active ingredients are similar to L'Oreal's product, but Lancome's has way more active stuff, so I use that.

That said, Cetaphil is pretty goos stuff, too!
