try using an exfoliating scrub or mitt; that's what i've done before and have had some success with

omg ... i have the exact same problem .... think i'll invest in some sugar scrub

... i hate how even though my underarms are smooth (hairless) it still looks like i hadn't shaved hic ....

My underarms became dark from shaving, so I started using exfoliating mitts and it remedied the problem. I purchase the Essence of Beauty mitts at CVS. Their on sale all the time.:whistling:

yeah..if we are wearing sleeveless, it looks like we didnt shave that area...ewwww!!dats embarasssing..ermm ladies..may i know wat is Mitts?sorry never heard it before..izit sum kinda pumice stone?

Aluminum in deoderants/antiperpirants is known to cause dark underarms.

You can switch to an aluminum free brand (Adidas, is one I think), although my own experience is they don't seem to work as well, so I never gave them enough time to let the skin go back to normal. :satisfied:

I googled "dark skin in armpits" and indiaparenting.com came up - basically what the beauty expert keeps saying is that if you shave, give it a rest and start waxing/sugaring and gently exfoliate with a scrubby mitt (bronze_chiqz - it's like a loofah glove). Good luck!

thanks for the tip! i think a lot of girls will appreciate this!

to add to it...if you can't afford a wax...try plucking

I found that happening to me when I shaved. My hairs were thicker and cause shaving cuts the hair above the skin the hair was still under my skin. If that makes sense. So even though I had shaved my underarm looked dark. Once I started waxing I didn't have that 5 o'clock look.

I have them too. But I think mine is due to hyperpigmentation because I have dark knees and elbows

oh i never thought of exfoliating my underarms, i thought that area would be too delicate, but now i know i will deffinatly give it a go, thanks

Exfoliate! Ever since I began exfoliating on a regular basis, my underarm area has lightened, as well as my knees and elbows. Not to mention, it makes shaving a lot easier for your underarms (just like it does for legs).

I get this, I think it's a mixture of shaving and not exfoliating, once you start exfoliating for a bit, your armpits should definately lighten up.

i actually have an underarm facial on my spa menu. alot of women have this problem so i thought a lightening treatment for the underarm area would be a good fit.
