Color suggestions? Pic inside...

I'm attaching a pic of myself. My hair is a bit longer now, but basic style is similar. I have dark brown hair with natural reddish highlights/cast.....and more grey than I really want to show ;o) Anyway, I'm looking for a change and to cover some of the grey, so what do you suggest as far as color/highlights? I'm turning 40 this year, so I'm treating myself to a midlife makeover of sorts......trying to grow out a very short cut to be a longer layered bob sort of cut and add some color for dimension.

maybe grow your hair to your shoulders long layers starting at your cheek or side swept bangs as far as color i dont know gray hair is tricky to color so talk to a professional i wouldnt go to light though your hair looks shiney healthy no matter what color or lenth healthy shiney hair is sexy/pretty and the dark hair brings out your pretty blue eyes hope that helps

I like it dark as it is!! maybe do some kind of walnut to cover the grey??

I like it dark too, but also know the pain of having dark hair and grey/white hairs! aarrgh! so if you do have alot of grey hair i would definitely get highlights. Just my opinion.

Maybe go dark color all over and then lighter highlights.

I think a layered cut, maybe a little past your shoulders would be good, with the sideswept bangs. I like the darker hair on you too. However, you could always knock it down a shade or two and add some low lights?

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to start with something closer to my natural color to cover grey, see how that looks and then if it still seems flat, I'll add highlights. Anyone have success with home coloring? I've always had it done at a salon, but if I knew of a good home kit, I'd go for it at home....the salon is mucho $$$ here in south FL!

I like the dark color, but I also think some highlights might look really good too!

Dark hair is the best and most beautiful IMO. Keep it dark.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to color it probably tomorrow night. I'll post a pic when it's done. Does anyone have pics anywhere that I could see what the ION medium golden brown color looks like on someone? I know it might be different on me, just looking for an idea.
