I seriously have the driest skin ever, If I don't get some type of moisturizer on my face within 5 mins after I shower I feel like my face is turning into leather lol... Also, This winter (and last) my eyelids have been super dry, I was fine up until about a week ago and they have small dry skin patches on them, nothing too bad, but when I see it it bothers me, the drynesss is the worst when I wake up..

Can anyone recommend a good moisturing eye cream and also a good mositurizing skincare system

I would recommend oil cleansing method, you can use castor oil, olive oil, sweet almond, jojoba, plus water (just tap water or floral water like rose or chamomile). It will clean effectively your skin while moisturizing it.

For the moisturizer, Weleda almond cream, Korres thyme honey moisturizer, another technique you could use is apply a few more drops of the oil you used to clean your face. While you get out of the shower, gently pat dry your face with a towel, it has to stay damp of ocurse but not dripping of water, if it feels tight you can spray some floral water. Then apply your moisturizer.

A technique i like to do with really dry skin is to apply a second coat of moisturizer, just make sure the first has sunk in completely. You could also use a serum to apply under your moisturizer, i don't have any to suggest, sorry.

Make sure you clean and moisturize your face at night as well. Your face moisturizer can double as eyecream, apply a light coat under your eyes and i nthe corners, and whatever's left on your fingers will go on the lid if it's dry too.

If your skin is flaky, exfoliate gently. You can just use baking soda making a paste with some cleanser. I would skip any mask unless it's labelled specifically moisturising for dry skins.

I too have EXTREMELY dry skin.  I literally have to run to the moisturizer after a shower.  I tried everything, including drinking more and more and even more water.  Nothing helped until..........Mario Badescu.  It's available at Ulta for about 20 bucks a bottle.  Works like a charm for me

@magosienne.. Wow, I never thought of even using oil to wash my face, I'm definitely going to try that out, is one oil better then another? or are they all generally the same thing? and is it ok to cleanse my face daily with oil? And I'll definatly keep an eye out for one of those moisturizers...

@kikikinzz.. I'm actually from Canada, and we don't have Ulta's here, I'm going to NJ next month so maybe I'll try and make an Ulta pit stop along the way lol

Thank you both for the suggestions =)

I use Origins oil cleanser and like it a lot.

And now when my skin seems extra dry, I use Clinique's Moisture Surge gel on top of my normal moisturizer--I generally don't like Clinique but this seems to help give it an extra bit of moisture.

Coconut Oil.  Unrefined and organic. You can use it on your face, on your body...everywhere.  It's amazing.

I have normal-to-dry, sensitive skin. Just some of my favourites: Cleansers Caudalie Gentle Cleanser Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser for Normal/Dry Skin Bioderma Sensibio/Crealine H20 Micelle Solution Laneige Moisturizing Cleansing Oil Lancome Huile Douceur (cleansing oil) Avene Extra Gentle No-Rinse Cleanser LRP Toleraine Dermo-Cleanse for Eyes, Lips & Face Moisturizers Cetaphil Daily Lotion for Normal/Dry Skin & Cream Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminee Eye & Lip Contour Cream Babor Sensational Eyes Creme Boots No. 7 Time Resistance Day & Night Eye Treatments* Toner (not a nessecity for me, but I like having it for days I've worn a full face of foundation) Clarins Brightening Toner (new, on promo at Shoppers - spend $15 on the line and get 2500 extra Optimum Points) Avene Extra Gentle Toner for Dry/Very Skin Nivea Gentle Toner for Dry, Sensitive Skin Other Avene Extra Gentle Scrub Avene Thermal Water spray (I usually use this as toner) Kibio Gentle Exfoliating Mousse Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminee 1st Wrinkle Serum Murad Soothing Redness/Dryness Serum (it has some fancy-schmancy name, but that's the gist! Very hydrating for a serum). Caudalie Vino Perfec Radiance Mask Caudalie Moisture Cream-Mask (I especially like this left overnight, when my eyes are feeling especially dehydrated. It's eye-safe, and for eyes & face) *the Day formula is top-notch, the Night cream is crap, crap, crap.

I use Silkia camellia oil underneath my moisturizer when my skin gets very dry. It works like magic. Not many cream moisturizers alone are moisturizing enough for me in the winter months. But when I apply Silkia before it, my face stays moisturized all day. I apply it around my eyes also. It's great for the hair too. It has made my hair so soft, smooth and shiny, better than the coconut oil that I've tried.

Do you moisturize at night before bed as well as before you do your makeup and stuff.  It made a huge difference to me when I started doing that.  I used to just cleanse it before bed.  Also make sure any products you use are for dry skin, and nothing you are using is drying it out further.  Products with things like alcohol or acne treatments can be very drying especially on already dry skin.  If I get a pimple I can only treat the pimple itself, if I get the stuff on the skin around it I'll get a dry patch.

I've used a little bit of the la Prairie line but find it a bit expensive....also Weleda cleansing products.  Yes, mineral oil can be a problem...especially if they leave your skin feeling greasy. I recently tried Richard Steffan products which I really like.....no mineral oils etc...and mild.

I love Clinique's Moisture Surge range of moisturisers. They work great and help to keep my skin moisturised even when I travel from a humid place in Asia to a place with a dry climate In America or France. It also doesn't break me out at all.

You can use the moisturiser at night as a replenishing mask by applying quite a bit all over your face. You'll find that you'll wake up to supple skin that looks refreshed and more awake!

Roxanne

I second camellia oil. It really seems to help with dry skin without clogging pores.

I heard that the brand AHAVA has a very good moisturizers for dry skin. May be you should try?

I actually started using The Body Shops' Vitamin E three step system and my skin is feeling (and looking) 100 times better then before. For the moisturizer though, I chose the intense one over the regular one, because I get so dry.

Thanks for all the suggestions though guys!

Best moisturizer ever is skin perfecting lotion by Murad... i used to be really flaky and I started using this stuff and its amazing!!!!!

Shea oil mixed with sweet almond oil.  Wicked stuff.  If you want pre-made, Egyptian Magic is great for dry skin.

the body shop vit e range is good and ive tried lots of kinds but nothing really works like almond oil or wheat germ oil (a few drops) mixed with ur regular moisturizer or vit e cream; and the palmers pure cocoa butter tub...smells good and works!

I think that no matter what I use my face always wants another dose of some sort of moisturizer after I've finished cleansing my face. But good luck on finding a moisturizer that'll help you out too!  I use Olay lotions now but my skin is more normal not not excessively dry. It just always wants some sort of lotion after I've washed it.
