Well I consider my current hair kind of boring...It has no style whatsoever..I straighten it and I'm dying it black..it's all one length and it comes to about 3 or so inches past my shoulder..this is a not so great pic but I'm thinking that because I have a pretty round face I might need some layers..but I'm all about saving the almighty dollar & time and it's all tight now that me & my fiance are finding a place to stay so I can't really afford the mulah or trip to the parlor I want to layer my own hair at home with some assistance of course lol I just need some direction in how to do it and not mess it up....someone help me fix my hair please!!!!! lol

Its pretty easy. you just cant rush it or your gonna wish i never said anything.

Your natural hair is curly so the shortest layer shouldnt go pass your chin. it should be about an inch or two below it.

The hair from the rest of the front to the crown of your head( right before your head curves to the back) should be 1in or 2 in longer than the hair framing your face.

The rest of the hair(the back of your head) should once again be 1in or 2in longer. unless you want to keep it at your original length.

Now for the cutting part: get hair cutting scissors (if u dont have one use thin and small one laying around the house).

DO NOT CUT STRAIGHT ACRROSS!

angle the scissors and snip the ends 1/2 in or less at a time making sure to keep the layer leveled. If u do it that way if you dont like it u can just stop, an the result wont be as dreadful as your whole head looking choppy.

ANd try curlers, youll get big hair of waves depending on how u place them.

Thank you very much! I'll update with a pic when I do it..I'm def gonna take my sweet time lol this is not gonna be a quick job lol I dont wanna screw it up..

First of all, I would soften your hair colour to a medium neautral brown.

Because your skin has a pink tone to it, stay away from anything golden or orangey red. I think the black is making your skin look to pinky.

Second, I love the side part. I don't think you need bangs. If you want to try, a very angled bang - not cut across or blunt though.

Third, cut a couple of inches off and have layers cut in, starting below your ear.

The cut and layers will get rid of dead ends and add movement.

I would consider growing in your brows for a more natural look.

These are only my opinions.

I think you are a very attractive girl and can pull off anything.

Thanks..opinions are always welcome here! lol anything for improvement..I dyed it black out of boredom..I agree it wasn't my best decision..my natural color is actually a beautiful ( in my opinion) auburn brown color...and yes the side part has worked wonders for my pumpkin face haha.

The brows..I hate to say ..as much as I grow them out I've never had normal sized brows lol believe it or not they dont get any fuller than that so I just fill it the best I can with a pencil and make it look not too circus-freak.

And thanks for the compliment, I still have some growing into my face to do though!

everyone needs a change once in while.i think black is a good color, then again thats probably bias cause i love dark hair!

you look pretty !

when i had bangs (i was little ^^) my mom used to cut them once in a while, and she used sharp and long sewing scissors(though i guess short are fine) and cut carefully, bit by bit.

i don't think you need bangs, layers should be enough, especially if you keep the side part.

try to wet your hair before you cut(shampoo isn't necessary).

Hey lissaboo, I feel a bit dopey because I didn't read your post very thoroughly.

There is a beauty school in my town that charges about $8 for a cut.

I just got layers put into my hair in October - I had contemplated doing it myself but always chickened out.

Finally, a stylist at First Choice cut my hair into layers for $15. and she did a pretty good job.

Thanks for taking my complement to heart - was sincerely ment.

And I apoligize if I said anything that came across as hurtful.

Oh no there was no offense taken at all..after all we are all here to either help or be helped lol

And I'm definately going to find somewhere to get it done..it's not a majorly expensive or time consuming thing to get layers I'm just anal about money, but my fiance talked me out of a DIY disaster..I love the black but only because I too love dark hair and absolutely am partial to it..the darker the better I say lol.But for me, I think I'm too pinkey-pale to pull it off really.I'm definately sticking to the side part, I rarely stray from it except to pull my hair back for a change because it works for my face shape.but thank you all for your opinions and advice I'm sure I'll be coming to you all again for more wisdom I have my work cut out for me hahaha.Still have alot of things to change to feel better about me..but thank you all, I'm grateful.:1f:
