I've been so lazy w/ this rain - it's pointless to even bother looking good because it only lasts as long as getting out the front door!

I bought this brush yesterday since it was the only straightening brush I could find in my local stores, and it was on sale for 50% off at Walgreens

However, I don't think this worked any better than the large round brush I already have. And it didn't do anything to make the ends of my hair straight, as I was hoping -- but I have NEVER been able to make the ends straight, that is the main reason I am growing out my hair. The ends on the right side of my head insist on flipping out, while the ends on the left side insist on flipping under or sideways, and it looks so goofy when each side looks so different

I would love to keep my hair above shoulder-length because I think it's more professional and makes me look older, but after 3 years of experimenting with different shorter cuts and styles I can't find anything that will work.... So hopefully if I grow it out a few more inches, it will be long enough that it won't matter if the ends are flipping in different directions, but not really long. Sorry for the rant but I am sick of hating my hair

Juliet, I am curious, with the brush you bought, do the ceramic plates actually touch each other when you clamp them together? That would probably work better -- the bristles on the Conair brush keep the plates about 1/2" apart, and only the bristles are flattening your hair, the plates don't touch the hair much...

As a random side note, this straightening brush might be a little easier to use if your hair is too short for a large round brush ... otherwise it seems to work just as good as a round brush. Surprisingly, I didn't notice any more static than usual when I used my anti-frizz cream -- my hair is very fine and prone to static without a good anti-frizz cream!

Jen, have you tried a paddle brush for the ends? I use one on the ends when I want that "iron" look & don't curl em'.

hi i'm sorry it didn't work out for you - i'm glad you got it on sale (at least you didn't have to pay the full price for it). i personally have long layered hair (some of my layers are pretty short thanks to Toni&Guy stylists who love cutting off hair - i am planning on growing them out), so i don't know whether the brush would work for short hair styles.
the bristles on my brush keep the ceramic plates apart too - before i start blowdrying my hair i heat up the ceramic plates of the brush for 30 seconds in order for the heat to circulate better within the brush.

my hair is prone to a lot of static too but i didnt realise it becoming more static with the brush - it actually looked pretty good if i may say so myself! i just went out and bought Kerastase's Oleo Relax Shampoo and Masque which reduce frizz - we'll see how it goes!

at the moment i have loads of roots and need to highlight my hair! i've already found the colour i want (actually i'll be getting it highlighted)! i am going to wait a little though because I am on Roaccutane at the moment (i've been on it for 8 months) and it's dried up my hair quite a lot so I'm going to wait til i get off it to do the highlights!

i'm so sorry the brush didn't work out for your especially since i raved on so much about it - i feel kind of guilty

hope you find something that works out for you. take care!

Janelle -- Yes and it never worked. I can understand that right now because my hair's at the length where the ends hit my shoulders and flip out, but back when my hair was above my shoulders I could never get the ends straight either. Even though my hair is only wavy (and not curly) naturally, it seems to have a lot of body and it's hard to make it do what it doesn't want to! lol But hopefully in 6-12 months it will be long enough it won't matter if the ends don't flip the same way.... maybe it's just me, but I think short hair looks messy when it's going in different directions, but if you have longer hair (especially with layers) you can get away with it more...

Juliet -- Don't worry about it, I've bought lots of products (hair and mu!) that have worked for other girls on this site but not for me, lol. (But I've bought a lot of great products recommended by other girls!) Besides I didn't buy your exact same brush -- I bought the cheapo Conair brush that wasn't even ceramic, just metal

(But in the past I've noticed very little difference if any between metal and ceramic brushes and dryers with my hair!)
