I just got an email from Sephora that they cancelled my Black Friday order because one or more items was out of stock!  I am furious!  I stayed up half the night to place that order and none of the stuff is available anymore!

I ordered the Lorac set, the Tokyo Milk set, the Tocca set, the Tarte set, and the Buxom set.  I called and they said that all of the $10 deals sold out pretty early (I ordered at 6am) and the website only updates what is out of stock every 6 hours.  I asked to speak with a manager and he gave me 500 points and free shipping on my next order, but that is not good enough!  Those sets were gifts and now I have to start over.

It does suck that you have to start over, but what kind of compensation are you looking for? It's not like they can do anything about the fact that the items are already out of stock and make them appear from nowhere. While it's definitely upsetting, they apologised and comped you pretty well -- and I'm assuming they issued a refund. What else were you expecting them to do?

That does suck...but one perk is that you don't have to spend all that money and are a BI, if you weren't before. There are still some decent sets available, but not the $10 ones.. If you're any kind of hoarder like a lot of the ladies here, maybe you can make little gift bags from your stash to offset the cost of repurchasing gifts?

You are always good at looking on the bright side of things. I didn't even think of that! I wish I had that sort of easy optimism.

 
Yeah, I didn't expect them to give me the items, but I was only compensated at all because I asked to speak to a supervisor.  If this is happening to thousands of people (which it is) they need to come up with standardized compensation, so that nice people (that wouldn't demand to speak to a manager) still get something out of all of the hassle.  I am just mad that it took them 5 days to tell me that they cancelled my order.  I could have bought a lot on cyber monday, but held back because of my sephora purchases.  

I am a super-hoarder, so I'm sure I will manage with the gifts.  It just sucks.

Oh I'm plenty realistic/pessimistic lol, but I will just cull my stash at times to make gifts and save myself $$ and shopping time. But one of my BFF's has nearly the same taste as myself, except for skin tone, so when I'm shopping at times, I can pick up 2x the items and toss it her way..from makeup to jewelry to clothes lol.

Yeah, the letting you know so late is kind of annoying, but they probably also didn't have people really working/checking inventory until yesterday. There are still a few places running their Cyber Monday deals... Yves Rocher, Sally Beauty, Origins, Coterie, and MAC all sent me emails telling me to buy things still lol. Good luck!

Got my 2 Black Friday online orders today (which included 2 of the #3 it kits w/no substitutions) as well as my $20 VIB gift card. Now to figure out what to get. God knows I don't need anything else makeup/skin beauty wise but I can't just let this $20 go to waste! :)

When I made my black Friday purchase, I ordered itkit #3, instead of the free shipping. I figured the amount of samples is worth more than shipping. Hopefully there aren't substitutions, but oh well. I'll find out Thursday when it arrives.
 
Hi guys, I'm new here but I have been following this tread like crazy since last Thursday (and buying accordingly too!). The first thing I bought was the Burt bees holiday bag - I was all excited at the beginning and then after seeing all the other offers I kind of regretted it and (as Musegirl said) that hold me from buying more from other awesome offers. Anyway, today (like 6 days later) they told me that the package was just shipped but without the holiday bag (I had ordered extra stuff just to get free shipping). I complained and sent them an email immediately. The items arrived today (weird because they said "ground shipping - will take 10-14 days") and the order receipt in the box says nothing about the money (empty spaces). They did not charge my bank account. My husband thinks they will charge me eventually, but I think they sent the little stuff for free because of their holiday bag mishandling. I really hope they do not charge me, because that would make me not hate the company and I will still purchase from them. Anyway, nice forum and happy to join!

You know, I REALLY don't need any more makeup/skin care but I have the same attitude as you lol. Did the $20 card come inside the box of one of your orders? Or was it a separate piece of mail? I'm trying to figure out if it will be in my email inbox or in my snail mailbox.

It was a separate piece of mail. I just happened to get both orders delivered and the VIB card in the mail!! I'm online right now trying to figure out what to get. HA HA!

Actually I'm wondering the same, I got VIB last week and just got an order from Sephora, but the bf said I can't open it cuz it's for xmas :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> so Idk if there will be a gift card there! D:
