I'm sorry to go 1942 on ya, but can we clean up our language? That's for EVERYONE. Please be aware that while this is a free site and expletives can force a point home, using them and other derogatory language isn't necessary. There are people who don't want to see certain words or images, referencing the coffee pic and retarded commentary. Sorry, but true people. I hate to be so PC, because I have a mouth like a sailor, but show some consideration. The language seems to be getting more derogatory and inflammatory lately, which raises everyone's hackles. Most of us are adults and before you think of hitting back with free speech and censorship, realize while you CAN say something, doesn't always mean you SHOULD or need to do so in a manner that can be so polarizing. It's just about respect and courtesy.
Is in the terms and usage of the site somewhere? Can you link me to it, please?
Calexxia posted the link already however I wanted to pointed out that all newer members receive a Welcome To MUT pm and one of the first links is the Terms of Service.
Regarding foul language. We don't outright ban foul language from being used so long as it's not abusing the TOS by using it as a means to harass or intimidate another member. The reason foul language is not banned, and this was in place long before I became a member here on MUT, is that the owners of the site believe that everyone has the right to their opinion be it good, bad or ugly so long as it's not defamatory, harassive or intimidating. If it becomes a problem with people bickering then we moderators step in and remind people of Rule #1 - be polite. We really do hate issuing infractions and will give fair warning unless the situation warrants an immediate infraction.
I should modify the TOS to include what happens if the TOS is violated and an infraction has to be issued since it's never been outright stated in the TOS what happens. Typically an infraction is worth 10 points and lasts 30 days, earn 50 points worth of infractions within that 30 period and the account is auto-banned by the system however some infractions (such as troll behavior, posting links to viruses and similar problem posts) earn a 50 point ban that permanent.
