I'll have to ask her to see what brand she uses.  She said she stopped shaving and went to plucking (we have very sparse underarm hair) because shaving caused her underarm skin to darken (I didn't realize this, but I HAD realized my underarms have gotten darker, and had no idea that it might have been related to shaving, since I don't shave very often as it is.)

I've been thinking about laser removal lately too because I think just a handful of treatments should get rid of the hair that I have.  (The Tria is $500, but I've been seeing deals online lately that are $300 or less for 3-6 treatments, which is a lot more reasonable for me, especially considering the amount of hair I'd want to get rid of.)

edit: oh, I double checked the Tria, guess it's $400 now instead of $500...still I want it to be in the $200-300 range *cough*

that's my problem too.  not a bad price to never have to shave/pluck/wax again

My sister uses the emjoi optimini epilator

I guess this might be off topic, but I've been looking at the Tria site again now after this thread.  I was trying to figure out if the price really was $500 or if it went down again (I think when I first found out about Tria, the news was that the price had just gone down by about $100, and it's now listed at $395.)

Well, my posts from last year were saying it was $500 last year, so it actually has gone down again.  I found out on the website that they've updated the Tria (faster laser and longer battery life) and lowered the price just about a month ago.

Maybe at this rate, I'll be able to buy it in 2 years!

lol ashley....omg I just went back and looked at the price...if that stuff works i will be buying in BULK  lol

lol i know right! Most people think cheap stuff means it doesnt work but I guess we will see lol

Is stuff the same price if you buy it through a Rep?  If not what's the difference between buying stuff through a Rep rather than just going to the website

You have to have a rep to buy it online I think... but it is the same price either way. They have a search thingy for you to find a rep near you or you buy it online through somebody you know.

I just looked at Avon online and you don't need to be a rep nor purchase thru a rep online.  Just register and pay.

Do you exfoliate your arm pits? I would suggest using a facial scrub product (like an apricot scrub) or a facial loofah (99 cents at Target/Walmart) to scrub your arm pits before you shave. Arm pit hair is one of the few body hairs that grows in all directions so you need to shave in all directions. Shave top to bottom, bottom to top, left to right, right to left and even diagonally. (Watching the Kentucky Derby while typing this and am getting distracted by the rapping horse, lol.) Anything that's left you can easily pluck during a shower so the steam has the pores open so plucking won't be as painful. After your shower do not apply deodorant right away because you don't want to clog your pores which can contribute to the bumps. In a few weeks you should see the bumps go away and your underarms more "clean" looking.

I actually sometimes have problems with ingrown hairs, will exfoliating help kind of pull them out?

I did not know Johnson made something like this.  I'm gonna have to look for it next time I'm at the store.  I barely have any hair on my legs so I rarely shave ...this would totally be perfect for me

Yes ! That's the reason why you are told to exfoliate before epilation, no matter the method you use. But it also works after. Do a simple sugar scrub or use a loofah.

Exfoliation removes the dead layer of skin which can contribute to ingrown hairs. By exfoliating during a shower the steam helps open up the pores and helps slough off the dead skin just like you would during a facial. I found my own ingrown hairs were usually very fine hair that typically couldn't push up the dead layer of skin but as I exfoliated over the years I had basically no more ingrown hair troubles. I get them every once in a while but when I do it's like one or two and not often. Hope my suggestion helps. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
