and this caught my eye. It's called the Wen haircare system. Anyone heard anything about it or tried it???

Celebrity stylist Chaz Dean presents WEN®, an industry-changing product line that is the first ever to exclude ordinary shampoo. What sets WEN®

So dedicated is Dean to the belief that shampoo can be harmful to hair that he has not used ordinary shampoo on himself or his clients in 14 years. Though it’s a tough sell the first time he tells a client he will clean his or her hair with conditioner, Dean says they quickly understand. “Everyone thought I was having an early midlife crisis when I stopped using regular shampoo,†he says with a laugh. “But it’s funny, the most reluctant clients become the most loyal and dedicated.â€

Dean started to explore his concept of cleansing without the use of detergents or harsh chemicals. Instead, he began cleansing with astringent and antibacterial properties that don’t lather or strip the hair, and the result was added sheen, luster, moisture and strength in the hair. “Color lasts much longer, and it stimulates the scalp, promoting blood circulation and healthy hair growth.â€

And how did the name “WEN†come about? “In addition to it sounding like ‘Zen,’ the system is a completely reverse way of looking at cleansing the hair,†he says. Thus, “WEN†is “NEW†spelled backwards.

apart from the rest is its cleansing conditioner, a single-step process that cleanses and conditions the hair simultaneously. The cleansers are made with natural ingredients, and contain no sodium laurel sulfate or other damaging detergents found in shampoos. They don’t lather; rather, they create smooth foam when mixed with water.

I'm using this right now. At first I didn't notice any difference, but when I read a phamlet they sent me it says to use a little for a leave in conditioner, it made a big difference. It took me a little while to get used to it, but so far so good. I have been using for about 4 month now. I colored my hair to and I noticed WEN doesn't dull the color. I suggest trying this.

over here we have a brand called Naked which does sodium laureth sulfate free shampoos. they're really good, i did notice a big difference in my hair. it's weird that they don't lather that much though.

Sorry I don't remember the source. But this is about using a conditioner to wash hair.

Conditioner Washing

I've read a lot about ‘conditioner washing’. It apparently takes a little while for your hair to adjust to it. The gals on another board that I'm a member of swear by conditioner washing, but they insist that you're better off using an inexpensive, very light conditioner. Favorites over there are the VO5 Kiwi & Lime and Suave Milk & Honey.

Here are the instructions:

Apply conditioner to wet hair. Use enough, you'll need a lot more than if you were using shampoo.

Concentrate on massaging the conditioner into the scalp area. Take your time, this is one of the most important steps and one that's frequently done incorrectly.

Let it stay on while you do other things in the shower - this is an important step also. Some cover their hair with a shower cap at this point. You must let the conditioner stay on the hair for a while for it to work to cleanse your hair.

Add a little water and continue to work the conditioner through the length of the hair.

Rinse completely, longer than you think you need to - yet another important step that's often done incorrectly.

Apply your usual conditioner to length of the hair only.

Rinse again.

It may take time for your hair and scalp to adjust to this method, but don't give up. It takes time for your scalp to adjust from producing a lot of oil to compensate for the stripping that so many shampoos do. If you've used any sort of silicone- laden product, you should clarify before starting condition washing.

suave sells one dollar conditioners that do the same thing...

in fact any conditioner that does not have silicones in it will do the same thing as WEN
