Anyone Else Cheat on their Hairstylist with the cheap places

If I colored (or decided to do lowlights) I would go to a high-end salon, and I know exactly the one I would go to, b/c a former GF of mine goes there. She is probably one of the few women I've ever seen who has highlights in her hair that actually look good. I am amazed at how bad most women's dye jobs look and HOW much money they pay for that crap, and they seem completely oblivious to it.

Anyway, since I don't do any type of coloring for now, I can get away with going anyway for a hairuct. All I have them do is trim up the ends, and put long layers in. I don't even do bangs. Any hairdresser can (ought to be able to) handle that.

I have skimped a couple of times and went to a cheaper place. It wasn't that they were bad, it just didn't look as good as when I go to my normal hair stylist. I love going to someone who generally already knows what I like and has done my hair before. I guess if I really wanted a trim bad enough, I'd go to a cheaper place.

I'm not loyal to any one particular stylist, but I've known people who are truly loyal. They will make their next appointment before they even walk out the door for their current services, often times because their stylist is always booked.

I cheated once and it was terrible. I only cheated because the hair cut was a gift. I really don't need to cheat since my hair stylist is very cheap! $40 for cut, wash and style. I love him. <3

Not the cut, but it was a shampoo to "brighten" the color. It said safe for colored hair. Well my hair was bright red afterwards. To top it off, it was the day before the second date with my bf, he said "I thought you had blonde hair?" Before the date I ended up buying an ash brown hair dye to take the red out, it took a lot out, but then I was left with brown-red hair. It took 2 appointments to fix that with my regular stylist. She had to dye my hair, lowlight, and highlight it, man that was expensive.

I don't have a regular stylist, but when I was looking for a short style from long hair, I went to a high end stylist (recommended by a friend). For trims and basic cuts, I go to the cheaper places. One of my favorite places to go is the beauty school. Nothing beats a $6 haircut. The teachers make sure that everything is good with the cut before you leave, so I feel pretty safe! But I wouldn't trust them to do major work! :)

This can be an interesting dilema. I have been to the same hairstylist for 10 years.

I have grown out my layers to a long one length look, with bangs. I have visited

beauty schools for $5 trims and I have also cut my own hair from time to time.

But I feel guilty, like I cheated or something. I moved recently and will probably find a new stylist. I almost feel that I should send a thank you note to my stylist, but I probably won't. Guilt and turmoil LOL
