Any good, affordable hair salons in the NY metro area?

I would like to get a good spiral perm with thick curls. Does anyone know of anywhere good, preferably in Manhattan or Queens. thanks!

$50 is a decent price. I would suggest any hair salon in Jackson Heights/Queens area. If you are familiar with the subway take the 7/R/V/F/E train to 74th Street Roosevelt Avenue. There are so many salons in this area. They also have many Indian salons too which do styles for half the price of manhattan salons. I personally cannot vouch for them as I have never gone to any of these. I usually go to a salon in astoria -Ditmars - called SPAce. They are super cheap (in my opinion). A cut and style with a junior stylist is only $25. I can't say how much a perm would be though.

Another suggestion is Chinatown in Manhattan - they have many many cheap hair places but these can get very very busy and they may not be attentive to you.

oh wow; I actually just moved really close to Jackson Heights- like 40 minutes away! I hadn't heard anything about their salons. I am Indian though so maybe they may actually know more about my hair type. thanks for the suggestion.

yeah, there are basically only dominican hair salons where i live so thats where i get my hair done.(im dominican so naturally id go there anyway.lol) I live a couple of train stops from uptown manhattan.
