Whatever you do, don't wax anything... But I am sure you knew that:) Even when you finish the medication, 6 months would be ideal before you start any waxing again...

Mitsuko, it's been a couple of months now... how has everything been?? I hope the medication is working perfectly and the side effects aren't too bad. Let us know, hun.. I'm curious to hear how everything turned out.. or if you're still on it.

yeah my brother had to take this to treat acne, it wasnt the most plesant experiance but it cured the acne once and for all.

I've taken roaccutane...1 course was enough for my skin, and it had amazing results.I was monitored closely by my dermatologist, and besides the dry skin (which, with lukewarm showers, lots of 8 hour cream for my lips, and generally following my Dr.'s advice, I could minimise) I had no other side affects.I also tired to stay out of the sun, as your skin can be more sensitive to the sun's effects.

I've had no problems with my skin since then, and I had cystic acne (localised to my t-zone) that was quite painful, at times.I would reccomend it, if like myself, you've tried every other treatment available, and it's not clearing up.It's great being acne free & not having that worry about your skin all the time! Good luck with it!

I'm on accutane right now .. and i'm so afraid of scarring even worse than I already have. I'm having the worst initial breakout, cysts everywhere and they hurt so bad. I also have millions of clogged pores and huge blackheads. My back hurts so much to the point where when I lay down I have to do it very slowly, and I have to sleep with my knees curled up to my chest to alleviate some of the pain. I'm having dry eyes, dry skin, incredibly chapped lips. And as for depression, well my mood depends completely on how my skin looks, so I am completely and utterly miserable.

I'm wondering if anyone in this thread could reccomend some skin care products to use that might help my intial breakout and horribly red skin. And cost is of no importance, i'll pay whatever as long as it actually helps. I told my derm about how painful my face is right now and he just reccomended moisturizer!! Like i'm not using that already.

Thank you in advance for any help!

I'm beggining my 4th month of accutane and it's had it's ups and downs. My skin is a lot clearer and I don't get nodules or cysts anymore. If I get a pimple it's smaller and goes away really quickly. So far I'm pretty happy with it, but I can't wait for it to be over. I want to be able to leave the house without checking first to see if I have my lip balm.

pieced and kiska - what are you girls doing to keep your faces clear now? I.e what face washes, night treatments and moisturizers are you using (or anything else that you might be using)

Thanks!

Great thread w/ LOTS of info! Very helpful, IMHO, to newbies who use Accutane or those just interested in it!

mmm, sounds scarey... yet interesting. I'm getting the most painful pimples on my chin, I think they might be what is called cycstic pimples. What's the difference between generic pimples, cycstic pimples and nodules?

Normal pimples are small, and can easilly be popped. Cysts are deep, under the skin pimples that can be popped, but it hurts like hell to do so and that should not be done. Nodules are giant hard zits that can not be popped.

Accutane does work really well from the accounts that I've read, seen, and heard, but... don't stay on it longer than you have to. Over time, your liver will not be able to handle it as well.
