Hey guys.

I already have a flat iron, but it doesn't work as well I would like. Cuz I like to straighten my bangs everyday, but with the iron I have, I always have to RE-flat iron them. It never stays as straight as it did before, and it's really annoying to always having to re-do it. Granted, I don't put in straighting balm, but I don't know how good that'll do. And anyway, I really would like a good flat iron. My hair is fine, and straight, but not stick straight. A tiny bit wavy(near the ends-if I don't do anything to my hair-like blow dry it).I mean, when I blow dry it, it's not wavy, so I don't really NEED a flat iron, as much as a curly haired girl would. But I would like to straighten my hair more, all over too, but to get it to STAY that way. That's the problem. I just know what flat iron is good. I'm willing to spend more on a flat iron, to get good results, I just don't know which one is really good. So any advice is good. And I good pro.flat iron, not a cheap one. Any person that replys with my hair texture would be even more appreicated. Thanks so much for reading this, and reading my long explination that didn't even need to be long! hehe.

The sedu is very good. It makes my hair so soft and shiny. I believe it is also ceramic. So, it doesnt damage you hair as much.

Hey Rachael !!!!

I like how you spell your name ! my best friend's name is rachel too but without the extra a lol

well it was funny reading your message b/c my hair is just like yours... its fine and thin and its wavy.. or 'beach tossled' look if i dont flat iron it.. a lot of my friends tell me i dont even need to flat iron it.... thats its 'straight' but i like the really straight hair...

so on to things.. i guess eveyrone has their own opinion and i'm in the same shoes as you.... i've done quite a bit of research on so many websites and folica...makeupalley.... myspace hair groups.... asked different hair stylists in my area and asked friends and people i work with lol

and here's what i've come up with so far

I use to own a sedu and for the price i paid for it... it does NOT keep my hair straight.. now mind u I live in Maine so the humidity isnt as bad as some areas like florida or alabama or whatever... i also use things n my hair to keep it straight but even those dont do as much as i'd like them too

Some people say 'well get this one ! it doesnt damage your hair..' but in all reality anything u put thats hot will damage your hair and my sedu has damaged my hair even with heat protectant... in my opinion its cheaply made and i didnt even own my sedu for a year and the light wouldnt even turn on at times !!!!

iv'e read a lot about Chi's and iv'e heard so many people tell me they break so easily and with some Chi's they only have one set temperature which for fine thin hair will really damage it !!

i think some chi version has adjustable temp tho ? but again... i've heard from so many people who have owned them they break rather easily and kinda cheaply made !!

so far what i've come down to ! Is im planning on buying the Paul Mitchell Smoothing Flat Iron... you can get it off ebay or through salons..... it is as much money as a typical professional flat iron it isnt as popular as chi's or sedus or anything but i heard it does a wonderful job... my friend owned a solia... a sedu.. a chi and one other brand i cant remember ? and she said the best she's ever used and found was the paul mitchell one

but this is all my opinion and whats worked for my hair and everyone has their own opinions !!!

so sorry if i put anyone's flat iron down lol this is just what i've gathered from reading a lot about flat irons... hope this helps some rachael !

I own a CHi < always use a good heat protectant!

I have heard good stuff about Sedu too

I have the Ultra CHI --- gets the job done.

There are a quite a few threads on here about flat irons, so I'm sure you'll find some info that will help you.

i recently bought the Chi, and i absolutely LOVE it. it leaves my hair silky and shiny, and straightens my hair ni half the time my old regular iron did.

i have the conair ceramic one with purple on it, it wrosk good...
