Ok I was getting really curious to know what everyone else uses on their face, what their routine was, and how well it worked, most importantly on what type of skin. I thought it would give us (us being the ones who haven't found the perfect regimen) all ideas.

Because everyone's skin even within a skin type is different I thought we should describe out skin.

Ok me first!

My skin:

My skin used to be either excessively dry or abnormally greasy depending on what cleansers I was using. Because I pick my blemishes I would would get flaky patches of skin. I get frequent blemishes and blackheads.

My products right now:

cetaphil oily cleanser

proactive oil free moisturizer

I latrher a small amount of cleanser in my fingertips and massage it into my already damp face. Sometimes I wash twice. Then I pat my face dry and apply moisturizer to my face and neck.

Results:

My skin is more evened out (not too dry or greasy) but I still get blemishes and have blackheads (though the size of my blackheads is decreased)

I'm very interested to see what others are doing.

My skin:

Oily T-zone, slightly dry cheeks, sensitive, break-out prone and pigmented type.

My OTC products:

Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser

Clinique Mild toner (sometimes)

Estee Lauder Verite sensitive cream

Murad lightening gel (sometimes)

My Prescription Products:

Retin A micro (0.04%)

Clindamycin (1%)

Results:

I haven't had a breakout for the past two weeks with this regimin. Either the oral antibiotics did the trick or I'm past the "cleansing" stage of Retin A. So far, it is doing great in regards to touch, comfort, and appearance. Hopefully I found my HG regimin! *knock on wood*

My Skin:

Super oily! Also prone to clogged pores, but not much true acne, according to the dermatologist I used to see. (Acne requires the presence of a certain bacteria, but my derm said that my clogged pores were just caused by my excessively oily skin!)

Previous Regimens and Results:

I tried several prescription acne creams, along with cleansing/exfoliating with a Buf Puf sponge and Cetaphil bar soap, all according to my derm's orders. The best prescription cream I tried was Tazorac, in combination with Clindagel. With this regimen, I rarely had more than one or two clogged pores on my face at once, which was no big deal since I could just hide them with concealor! (They normally weren't very large bumps!) However, nothing I've tried has reduced the oiliness in my skin!

Current Regimen:

Morning: Wash face in shower (I'm lazy!), Stridex Maximum Strength (2% salicylic acid), Cetaphil Moisturizer

Evening: Wash/exfoliate with Cetaphil Cleanser and Buf Puf Sponge, Neutrogenia On-The-Spot Treatment (2.5% benzoyl peroxide -- but I use it all over my face as a preventative measure, not as just a spot treatment).

Current Results:

When I was still in grad school, my current regimen worked fairly well, but not quite as good as the prescriptions. The Neutrogenia On-The-Spot did make a big difference when I started using it -- at first I tried just the Stridex but I was so broke out it my face looked like it did in high school before I started using medicines! But I still always had some clogged pores with the Neutrogenia -- but at least I could normally cover them with mu pretty well.

Now that I'm out of school and not nearly as stressed out, my face has suddenly cleared up a lot! And it cleared up just a few weeks after graduation so that had to be it, because nothing else changed! Now I can actually go 2 or 3 weeks without a single clogged pore, which is amazing! I do still get several large blemishes at that time of the month, but I don't think there's much I can do about that

I am even wearing a sheer foundation now and loving it -- I never thought I would!

My skin: combination acne prone skin

My OTC products: Cetaphil cleanser, Complex 15 Moisturizer, GNC Pure Aloe Vera Gel

My prescription products: Retin A micro (0.025%), Erythromycin (2%)

Results: My face is still a mess. My breakouts have decreased but the dark makrs are still there. I'm going back to my dermatologist next week and hopefully we can fix this.

I'm planning on taking zinc and MSM for my skin.

My skin: oily/combo skin, acne-prone

My products: Currently I'm using Exposed Skincare, it's a system similar to Proactiv, but formulated with glycolic acid. It contains a cleasner, day toner, separate day and night serums, and a moisturizer.

My results: Great! After using this for 2 months, my face is as clear as its been in months! I'm loving it! But I still have a lot of uneveness and red marks from acne that I need to work on...I've been doing microdermabrasion for a few weeks..and I plan on adding 40% Lactic peels to that 1x a week..(then increasing to glycolic peels eventually).

What does flaxseed oil do?

My skin type: dry during winter / normal during summer

Products: Philosophy Purity Made Simple, pure Aloe Vera gel + Hope in a Jar. Right now I'm looking for a really good (yet affordable) eye cream...

For pimples, I spot treat with Philosophy on a clear day.

I started using Philosophy earlier this year, and I love it so far! My skin definately feels softer

My skin:

I have dry/normal skin, with very fine pores (probably due to the pale skin tone). It only gets pimples now and again... on my chin area.

My products right now:

Clinique Mild Facial soap

Clinique Refreshing eye gel (my eye area gets very dry)

Emu Oil

Results:

I don't use alot of products on my skin as I believe less is more for skin care. My skin is far from perfect, I suffer from redness on my cheeks and those hereditary dark circles, but overall the condition of my skin feels quite good. I only use mineral makeup now (use to use foundation, but stopped 5 months ago as my skin couldn't cope with it)

My Regimen

Very simple. I wash my face in the morning with Garnier Pure or Fresh. Use the Toner, 24-HR Moisturizer, and it gives me this really healthy non-greasy glow.

Skin Type

My skin is more likely to be called Combination. I have medium size pores but I am relatively clear from blemishes and acne. I can get a bit oily in the T-Zone but my cheeks are normal/dry. The products I use are perfect for my skin so I don't have a dryness/oiliness problems.

Results!

I don't use acne products or anything for oily skin but I do get a bit oily in the T-Zone like I said earlier. Because my skin reacts pretty quickly to products, I could get dried out from those. My products are for normal/combination skin but I think that its probably my diet that helped me get over the acne. I cut Salts out of my diet entirely, and after a few days of no salt, you notice that you look plumpier and more hydrated. Thats my results.

My Skin Type...

  • Oily.
  • Definitely Acne-Prone.
My Routine...
  • MORNING: Neutrogena Fresh Face Foaming Cleanser & Glycolix Elite Facial Cream Ultra Lite
  • EVENING: Neutrogena Fresh Face Foaming Cleanser & Retin-A-Micro.
The results...
I've been doing that routine since January of this year, and the results are wonderful. "A ton better," my dermatologist said. My big breakouts cleared up and now, I only get little tiny breakouts now and then, but that doesn't bother me at all since it's barely noticeable. What bothers me the most, though, are the little hyperpigmentations I get and the peeling of the skin. My derm said that the peeling is completely normal and that that's what we actually want happening. Overall, I'm happy with the results!

My skin:

combination-oily on forehead and noise and normal on the rest of the face

besides the occasional tiny whitehead I only get cystic pimples about once or twice a month (thanks to my hormones) that often leave marks and/or bumps that I´m trying to get rid of. other than that my skin is pretty clear

Current regimen:

face wash: Dove cream bar soap (I´m so surprised my skin likes it so much)

toner: Apple Cider Vinegar (also used as spot treatment)

moisturizer: La Roche Posay Effaklar K (anti-oil pore treatment with 3 kinds of mild exfoliants: AHA, Salicylic Acid and LHA)

microdermabrasion: L´oreal Refinish

Peel: Avon Clinical 2step peel (with 10% glycolic acid)

Results:

the best way for me to use this regimen is do the microdermabrasion and the Glycolic peel on the same day (always at night). my skin is not sensitive and the percentage is pretty low so the redness calms down overnight. I get less good results when I use those 2 things on seperate days.

I am currently looking into a higher percentage Glycolic Acid Peel (I´m thinking 30%), but I wanna finish my Avon peel first. it got rid of the superficial marks but hopefully the 30% peel will get rid of the deeper marks!

Even if flax seed oil doesn't help with the acne, it's GREAT for you! I has more omega 3's per gram than fish, it's totally vegetarian, and it keeps your digestive tract working well. If you add 1 tbsp per day to a smoothie, you can't even taste it!

my skin is i guess normal. not dry not oily. and i hardly ever get a pimple.

i use st. ives apricot radience moisture rich cream cleanser.and neutragena clear pore refiner toner . w/ alpha and beta hydroxy acid in it. and oil of olay complete daily moisturizer (try to everyday)

I explained a lot about my skin care in my notepad so I just posted it here

From the ages of 12-23 I had very oily and pimply face, I had little pimples all along the sides by my ears and along on my cheeks where My glasses rims are and all over my forehead, Finially when I was about 23yrs old I started buying drug store face wash, every single brand made my face extremely red and blotchy,I had to stop using them and use just water, I had many almost unused differnt kinds of face wash I couldnt use, I discovered I had the most sensitive skin especially around my chin area. Then I discovered Mary Kay

I was willing to try anything to get rid of my horrible red face, I was shown the facewash, toner and the mask,

The face cleaner was the original (not the Timewise 3 in 1) before Timewise came out

I bought the Revitalizing mask and Toner for oily skin,

PS, I dont know why but I cant stand my face being dirty after 2-3 hours it feels dirty and I wash it (with Timewise 3 in 1 for dry skin) aprox 4-5 times a day *complusive or what!!*

But it makes my skin so beautiful,

Truthfully and honestly The facewash, toner and mask got rid of my pimples ,every single one of them, and I havent had bad skin since. PS. just the ocassional pimple

I wanted to tell you ladies my good experience with MK

I use

Mary Kay

3 in 1 Timewise for dry and normal skin

Timewise Age fighting Moisturizer

Mask , Revitalizing

The Miracle Set, Day and Night Solution (age fighting)

Microdermabrasion kit

I mask once every week or so it does wonders I wash my face 4-5 times a day I use the microdermabrasion once a week very gently!!

let's see.. i just came across this thread and thought i'd share some input.

myskin: oily t-zone. somewhat dry cheeks. mostly breaks out around chin and forehead area.

myproducts:

olay daily facials for oily skin.

st. ives apricot scrub

queen helene mint julep masque

myroutine: (when i have time
laughing.gif
)

welll.. first i wash my face with the daily facials. then, i do a scrub with the st. ives and after apply the masque for a good 15 minutes.

it seems to work well on my oily skin and doesn't dry out the rest of it.

butttttt, a couple days ago i started proactiv, my skin really isn't that bad, but i have senior pictures coming up and i want that clear, perfect skin. so i'm gonna see how this goes.

You're all going to think I'm nuts, but here goes!

I classify my skin as dry, but I think it's really a drier comination skin type. My cheeks are almost always excessively dry and my t-zone sometimes gets a little oily. In summer, I'm less dry and my cheeks are less uncomfortable, but in winter my cheeks and the area directly around my nostrils get extremely dry, to the point where any moisturizer stings.

So, my current routines:

Day

- Wash with Biotherm dry skin cleansing milk, use wet washcloth to wipe off product

- Biotherm softening toner for dry skin

- Dermalogica skin hydrating boost on cheeks & around nose

- Olay Regenerist eye lifting serum (I smear the excess around my nose for added hydration)

- Biotherm Hydra-Detox combo skin moisturizer (1 pump) mixed with Biotherm Source Therapie (1 pump)

- Dove Fresh Radiance day lotion SPF 15 mized with Biotherm Source Therapie (1 pump)

Night

- Bobbi Brown eye makeup remover

- Same cleansing and toning routine as Day

- Dermalogica hydrating boost & Olay eye cream as above

- Biotherm Biosensitive dry skin moisturizer mixed with one pump of Source Therapie.

*some evenings I use Paula's Choice AHA serum after cleansing and toning.

Specialty

Biotherm Hydra Detox masque

Dermalogica Intensive Moisture masque

philosophy The Microdelivery Peel

Hydrocortisone cream + moisturizers for the exczema patches on my clavicle.

I use specialty products once a week, at most, and usually only when I remember. The only manual exfoliator I use currently is the microdelivery peel...it leaves my skin very soft.

So how's it working for me?

Lately I've been getting a bit more shine than usual, but that's probably because I got too much sun over the weekend and my skin is overcompensating now. Also, I haven't really adjusted my routine for summer. I've been lax on the hydra detox moisturizer and as a result I have many little bumps on my forehead (my version of a bad breakout). When I have bumps that just won't go away, I blast them with Prescriptives All You Need moisturizer for normal skin, used like a serum at night.

See? Too many steps! But I do get many compliments on my skin.

i like to keep my skincare regimen pretty simple and use only a couple products. i used to use St. Ives Apricot scrub but i recently switched to Juara's Rice Facial Cleanser. I'm so happy i discovered this product! it is so silky smooth when it goes on my face and feels absolutely amazing. i feel so refreshed after washing my face
smile.gif
then i follow up with Clinique moisturizer on dry spots. Sometimes i use toner for spot treatment on pimples.
