I thought this would be the best place to start this question... concerning beauty in general, I suppose... See I have a situation here... a guy I really like will come spending a week or two with me in the vacation home of my parents - just the two of us

... so I bet you can imagine how excited I am!

But as this is all still very new, I am still a bit conscious of how I look to him, bút at the same time I don't want to spend alot of time putting on make up and doing my hair, because I don't know... embarrassing, such things should be done when he is not looking!

For example, the nights, I already know I am not going to clean and wash my face of make up before heading to bed... and the mornings, garrrrr!

I have very thick hair, and it's naturally wavy, but I straighten it, I don't even know how to begin that task when he is around... I suppose I'll leave it wavy, as this takes quite some time, and once again, I really don't want to spend a lot of time in front of the mirror when he's around...

And then there's the shaving, I shave at least twice a week, otherwise I get stubbly... but I have never had a bikini or leg wax... maybe that is advisable, as the hair probably stays away much longer?

Any tips?

What do you do in these situations?

It will be appreciated so much!!

Well, I would suggest maybe washing your face at night... I'm sure you don't look horrible without makeup, and you might be surprised at how he "takes it." If you're getting to know each other better, then I'm sure he'd rather get to know the real you 100% even without makeup! Not to mention, you don't want to wake up with raccoon eyes... If all else, you can just apply a tinted moisturizer... Maybe use self-tanners beforehand to add a subtle tan/glow.

As for your hair, I would straighten it and leave it... Maybe wash it every 2-3 days if you can handle it. Then it's straight, and you're not worrying about it. Although, wavy is good too...

I shave daily, so I'm NOT the best person regarding leg hair... I know in order to be waxed, the hairs need to be at least 1/4 of an inch long... So, if you don't have much time, then maybe you could use a hair removal like Nair or Neet.

Might not be the best info you'll get, but I HTH some!

I agree w/ Aquilah

I completely agree with Aquilah. You wouldn't realize how much men prefer women to look more natural, especially for vacations!

If you're worried about imperfect complexions (and most of us have that, lol), tinted moisturizers would do the trick. Not washing the makeup off at night is not advisable, as it can lead to breakouts!

as far as makeup goes, I'd say try to keep it as minimal and natural looking as possible(neutral shadows, etc), that way you don't have to fuss it over too much and get to spend more time with your man! hehe

as far as the hair goes, unless you have major styling issues with your wavy hair, I'd say let it loose and let him see the side of you he hasn't seen before! wavy hair is in this season anyway!

I shave too, so someone else can hopefully fill you in on the wax bit.

Don't fret! it'll go well!!! Good luck!

If you really must wear makeup at night and refuse to be natural, then mineral makeup would be best. For your hair, let it be wavy sometimes to cut back on the styling time.

YAY! u must be so excited!

I agree with Aquilah

Also, be proud of your natural thick hair. Straighening would take too much time, so why not go natural, I would recommend buying specific hair styling products for your hair type so you can keep it under control.

With make-up, try mineral foundation or just dab foundation/concealer on places where you need it most.(under eyes, around the nose, cheeks, blemishes, or whatever else). For eye make-up, I'd just recommend mascara.

I would suggest a bikini wax only... you can shave your legs there I guess, no biggy.

Oh and above all, don't worry, I'm sure he'll love to watch you get ready haha I think guys like that girly type thing.

I agree with Aquilah too! You should wash your face before you go off to bed, at least remove your makeup first. If you're too lazy to do that, you can get a water or lotion based makeup remover and do it anytime and wherever you like.

As for hair, I'd leave it wavy and go natural. I wouldn't have the time to straighten it.

The hair removal stuff. I can only suggest wax because I wax once a month. Waxing is last longer than shaving. But, I'd shave the bikini part because I've never had any bikini wax. I'm not ready yet for the pain lol.

I too agree with aquilah and I have some tips. for your face wear a tinted mositurizer to bed . For your eyes , you can use kohl , its ok to sleep in . And on your lashes you can use some castor oil , it will make them look darker and glossier and in the long run it helps protect them from breakage. Wear a tinted lip balm over your lips and hang upside down for a while to get some color in your cheek. you will stay flushed for the time it takes to get to bed and turn off the lights

Thank you all for the thoughts and ideas, I do agree on the natural part, I just get super nervous now it's getting closer and we'll see more of each other, it's all the good nervy butterflies I suppose

This reminds of me of when I go and visit my boyfriend LOL. We have a long distance relationship and so we don't see each other a lot, the first time I went down to see him, I felt so bad...I take so long to get ready in the mornings and of course the first morning together, I spent 2 hours in the bathroom!! Poor guy! He was watching tv the whole time and I just felt bad. And the night before that, I was honestly debating on whether or not to wash my face, yeah I know it sounds horrible because its one of the worst things you can do is not wash your makeup off before you go to bed, and so I said who cares what he thinks because he should love me no less! Well I did wash it off, and he told me that I looked beautiful! A lot of guys like girls who don't wear a lot of makeup and he said that he was glad that he got to see me like that.

So hopefully your guy will understand and love you for who you are!!!

If he really like you, he will accept you in whatever way you come. I used to be self conscious about washing my face and applying makeup around chris too until one day he busted into the bathroom and he said and I quote "DAMN! you are gorgeous. why do you even bother wearing makeup"..I felt so stupid. here I was clogging up my pores when this fool loved me being natural.
By the way, your hair sounds sexy.

I also agree it would be easier to go more natural.... but at the same time, I think that if you guys have a healthy relationship, you shouldn't embarrassed about doing anything in front of him! What if you decide to get married or live together for the long-term? Are you going to try to hide your beauty routine from him forever? If you want to do your full beauty routine, then go for it!

Thanks for the new replies, I agree with that if he likes me for me then I have nothing to worry about, but I still do...

just butterflies now.... I'm sure I'll forget about make up and hair the second we get together in one house.
