Wrinkles 101

Young skin is thick and elastic and able to resist muscle tension, older skin is less elastic thus cannot resist muscle wrinkling, creating brow line and crows feet. What causes wrinkles? Sun, smoking, aging in general, hormones, and many other things. We can control how much sun we get ..and that is perhaps the MOST important key in the ANTI-AGING battle. However ...let's say you have them already ..what to do about it?

To help remove wrinkles, the best method is to apply AHA's (see list below) to the areas that have been damaged, where fat cells are sparse , and where muscle tension has produced lines and wrinkles. And then use SRCP's (skin remodeling copper peptides).

AHA's help remove old skin, while new skin migrates to the surface and are best when followed by SRCP's. SRCP's help increase collagen and elastin. With time, SRCP's helps with the removal of damaged skin and produce new skin ...removing wrinkles by firming and tightening the skin.

Did you know most cosmetic moisturizers damage skin. They wet the skin proteins to give the illusion of moisturization but the outer skin proteins should be kept relative dry and hard to protect underlying layers of your skin. This is why biological oils are actually better ..because they penetrate the skin and the skin's proteins ..getting deep down. Emu, Squalene, Retinol in Squalene oil are among some of the biological oils preferred.

Ok ..what EXACTLY do I do?

Application Tutorial:

1. wash face with Gentle Cleanser and pat dry face with towel.

2. Apply Exfol Serum (salicylic acid - mildest of AHA's and BHA's) to entire face (if too strong, dilute it with water).

3. Apply CP Serum (as little as 2 drops a day and slowly increase this amount) to whole face (see note)

4. Eyes - CP Night Eye (Premier - very mild) or CP Night Eyes (mild.) Wait about 20 mins before next step.

NOTE: Work from CP Serum to Super CP Serum or Trireduction P&R and then to Super Cop (I use Super Cop 2x)

5. To increase the CP's add a biological oil (Emu or Squalene) on top, these actually PUSH the CP's into the skin (for Milder effect, use the oils first then apply the CP's). I prefer to use Emu Oil.

If you DO decide to use CP's ..do NOT use a product in conjunction with them that contains Vit. C. They will counteract their abilities. I am adding a Retinol in with my routine. I use this before I add and CP's or alone in the morning with Emu oil (after washing).

UGLIES - if AHA's and SRCP's are used heavily at first ..there is a brief period where you go thru the uglies ..THIS IS NORMAL. As damaged skin is removed, the skin briefly becomes more loose, before it is pulled tight by the production of new collagen and elastin. Skin fibroblasts product collagen first, then elastin, then they slowly pull the protein strands together and tighten the skin. Hang in there ..it gets better.

You can also back off a few days, give your skin a break.

Super Cop is strong ..a very strong remodeling system. Start with a milder product first and work up to this. Super Cop is excellent for rapid skin rebuilding.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SRCP's - Anti-inflammatory and detoxifies free radicals; removes damaged proteins; helps synthesis of new collagen, elastin and water holding proteins; rebuilds microcirculation and repairs skin barrier.
AHA's - normally on the skin surface; removes older skin and alllows new skin to surface. (glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, citric acid and tartaric acid) BHA - only one - salicylic acid. The main difference is their lipid (oil) solubility. AHA's are water soluble only, while BHA is oil soluble. BHA is able to penetrate into the pore and therefore is better used on oily skin. Both will increase sun sensitivity, so the use of a sunscreen is recommended.
Biological Oils - Emu is similar to human skin oils; Squalene is normally in the skin
Retinoic acid - normally in skin; increases remodeling; natural skin component
Vit. C - normally in skin; increases collagen; good anti-oxidant (best taken internally)
Dermabrasion/Subcision - Cleansing or rubbing, microdermabrasion works on elevated/surface scars whereas subcision helps depressed/pitted scars.
This is fabulous information! Thank you so much for posting :clap . I'm going to take a closer look at copper peptides, haven't tried before but am very intrigued.
Hi Kim,
Do you do the same application both am and pm?
Also, I've been thinking about buying some Vit C powder and mixing my own solution. However, copper and vit C negate each other. I'm wondering if I could use vit C plus Emu (to push it into the skin) in the morning and then use the SCRP's in the evening and still get the benefit of each. Any thoughts?
The other day I ordered a slew of the SCRP products. The total $ was a LOT, but then I ordered a fair assortment including Super Cop 2x. Yes, I know I won't be using the latter for a while, but figured I might as well have it on hand for when I am ready vs having to order and wait (patience is NOT my strong suit). I'm prepared for a period of "the uglies" too - think I'll schedule a vacation for a week then and just go hide. :bandit:
Kim, in your infinate wisdom, do you know anything about having to stop using aha's after a certain time period- I have heard they stop working after so many months and you must possible take a break from them but I don't know anything else, like when and if you should start again...
Jennifer
I guess for the young people, or at least for me, I have to watch out with sun exposure. Thanks for the article.:clap
Awwwww Naturally, that is so sad! The oil is a food by-product? Who eats Emus? Last I checked they weren't a steady part of most people's diets... Maybe Aussie's eat them? I don't think I can bring myself to use emu oil even if it's a "food by product"... :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
/Sorry, is a hippie at heart
Kim, Thanks for your thoughts on C and Copper - and on clarifying your routine.
As per microdermabrasion, I've been using Microdermx for 8 weeks now - two to three times a week. I've seen a 'huge' difference in the fine, and not-so-fine, lines around the mouth - YEAH! The chin-line area is coming along, albeit slower (but hey, for only 8 weeks, it's still an improvement!). So far I've been faithful in using their step 2 after abrading (I do it at night) and then the next morning before putting on CoQ10, ginseng, and a few other lotions and potions like a Hydroderm sample. I think after I get the SCRP's, I might put them on first instead - and hope no adverse reaction. Sheesh, decisions decisions decisions.
I've ordered the actual AlO (aluminum oxide) crystals in the lowest grit available (90) to test on those deeper lines to see if that will do any better on them. Gotta love this DIY experiments :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
Has anyone here bought their own crystals, specifically 90 grit, and used it? If not, I'll let everyone know how it works out when I try it.
Kathy (waiting impatiently for the SCRP's to get here too)
I understand, Naturally! Well I avoid animal products in everything (or try to at least, I suppose there could be animal ingredients in some of my products and I just don't know). But I'm glad it's worked wonders for you! I wasn't trying to sound mean or insulting and implying that anyone using the oil was "bad" or anything, so I hope you didn't take it that way! I just feel sorry for ANY usage of animals for the benefit of humans, whether it is food, cosmetic or even medical. But I guess this isn't the right forum to be discussing this.. Though I personally wouldn't use it, I'm not against people who do, and if it works for you, great! ^_^ /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I agree... it's hard to see animals used for the wrong reasons - but then again, if I had cancer or a life threatening illness - and a certain part of a particular animal would cure me -- then I'm all for it. I guess you have to have a need or a want for something to be able to see it for what it is. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
thanks for bumping this--i see all the copper peptide info i need! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> i have a question though...if you are using exfol on a regular basis...you also use epidermx a few days a week...how do you factor that into your routine, and do you still use copper peptides on those days? i dont want to mess it up! lol--and i am assuming you are using the Dr. pickard products? do you have a "here" link for me so i get the right ones? thanks so much for all your wonderful miracle help!
