Have anyone used the women of color products from Dr Jan Adams , cleanser, moisturizer etc?

Holla !!!!!!!:sheep:

People of color do not have different skin textures, that is just a myth the cosmetics companies capitalize on. The only difference is that darker skin is more prone to pigmentation and lighter skin is more prone to redness. Otherwise there is no difference.

Welcome to MUT, btw! Just thought you would like to know that using a different product just because you are of a different ethnicity is pretty pointless. Trust me, I have seen and done, lol :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

sorry sheil2009, but this is not a myth at all! there are some differences in skin texture and performance related to ethnicity. now, i would agree that just because a product says it's for women of color doesn't mean that it will work for all women of color! just wanted to clear that up.

hi dime! i'm monnie from michigan! welcome to mut. sorry, but i've never heard of dr. jan adams. do you have a link for her products?

I must agree with Monnie.

but I too have never heard of Dr. Jan...if you try it, let us know and post it in the review section

Dr Jan Adams is an African American male plastic surgeon who practices in Cali and has a skincare line which can be purchased from Walgreens. i stumbled upon him by doing a yahoo search looking for african american skincare products.

proof? the only differences stem from the excess melanin in darker skins, and that means darker skin should be treated gently because being too harsh will cause hyperpigmentation. But that is the main difference Article with sources:

and I know people may not trust Paula Begoun, but she has sources for what she says and all of this makes sense.

I tried the cleanser & moisturizer and both smell very good , but the moisturizer was a little heavy than what i'm used to I was really surprised that the fragrance was nice

here is his website drjanadamswomenofcolor.com which i think is too long for a website LOL :sheep:

Hi Monnie,

Did you ever read "Black Skin Care for the Practicing Professional"?

Well Dime thankyou for the info on the product and though I'm Latina and not African American I do feel that having more melanin in our skin makes a difference. Examples of that are: certain skin treatments are not recommended for those with colored skin due to potential scarring, we have greater protection from the sun are less likely to develope skin cancers or burn, we are less apt to wrinkle, possibility of developing hyperpigmentation/melasma, people of color are more likely to have eczema as opposed to rosacea, and we are more apt to develope keloids.

I'm guessing that these are differences that you're speaking of? They are differences.

Anyway thanks for sharing the info and I visited his website and will be looking out for the product in Walgreens.

Newyorlatin , his products are for all women of color not just african american and his products has been out quite a while now :sheep:

doesn't ring a bell, leza. i'll look it up and let you know.

i did a quick search and found it, leza. i think this is one i need for my library! thanks for the heads up!

Hi Monnie,

No problem. It's an excellent book. Also, I hope that Dr. Rosetta Garries will put out a book as well. She is a master plastic surgeon with a fabulous facility right in the heart of Harlem called Le Pavillion Garries.

I've heard good things about his products. However, I'm assuming they also contain hydroquinone..and so you should be extra careful in terms of sunblock and duration.
