I had a really bd breakout about a year ago and haven't tanned since then. Which is killing me!! I have post ance marks that are fading very well but still need some time. But I really want to go tanning again. Does anyone know if tanning will just make them darker or will they continue to fade? I know that if you have dark marks from tannng or the sun then they continue to darken but I'm not sure about post marks. Please help! Thanks!!

if you're using something to fade the scars and you tan, they will get darker.

but, they should actually stay light when you tan.

either way, it causes discoloration.

tanning is bad anyway, use a fake tan or something.

:]

It's going to make the marks darker and then they're more likely to stay darker even when your tan fades. I wouldn't recommend it.

I agree. Marks will not get lighter when you tan.

Just like "liver spots" and 'mask of pregnancy", old acne scars become darker when a woman spends time out in the sun.

I heard that tanning helps improve acne because it dries it up or something? I don't really think tanning would have the same darkening effects on acne marks as it does on age spots.. But who knows haha, just my opinion. It might help.

From my experience it will temporarily make them look better, but when the tan fades they will just as bad if not worse. :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Plus, I think that the sun-damaged skin will take longer to heal.

I went to the derm and he said that it would be ok to tan. They won't get darker and they will continue to heal. Thak you all for t replys. Just wanted to let everyone know.

I've heard that it temporarily clears because the UV light kills off some of the bacteria, but it also makes your skin clog itself up with dead skin cells which can lead to more acne later.

I dunno, I don't tan and I don't really have acne-acne, more like clogged-pores-and-blotchy-skin-acne
