Every moisturizer's primary function is to moisturize so you can just get ANY moisturizer but What moisturizer do you use and Why?

What is it that you think it is doing well other than moisturizing?

Me? I'm currently loving my DIY cream made with jojoba, evening primrose, hempseed, rice bran, macadamia nut and camellia oils. I scented it with rosemary, sandalwood, patchouli and lavender essential oils. It is moisturizing but not greasy. I have eczema and it doesn't aggrevate it, it soothes. The scent is very relaxing and makes me happy because the EO I used work as an anti-depressant.

Now... tell me yours!

Hmmm. Its in a green bottle. The reason... And my wife bought it for me.. Lol.

I have two different nighttime moisturizers, both are supposably anti-aging (which I don´t really believe though). I use them when I feel like the Retin-A is drying out my skin a bit too much. They do a good job at moisturizing and aren´t too greasy and they smell nice...but that´s really about it, any moisturizer will do.

Oh and I won them.

I use a Clean & Clear moisturizer with Salicylic Acid. My skin was horrible at the time and it was frustrating me that I was 25 and had no control over my skin. So I threw out all my acne washes, on the spot treatments, etc and decided I was just going to use Cetaphil to wash my skin and then experiment to see which products worked for me. One month I was going to try just using on the spot treatments, the next month an astringent, etc.

The first thing I tried was an acne fighting moisturizer and my skin just cleared up right away. I'm still dealing with random pimples on my forehead (which I think is due to sweating) but no more cystic acne, whiteheads.

So annoying that for years I spent HUNDREDS of dollars on low end, high end, and prescription acne products only to find out the solution that works for me is a $5 bottle of moisturizer.

I'm the same as Andi. But I use either Vaseline or a prescription strength Polysporin.

I use them because they are very inexpensive, they both work, and they are recommended by a Dermatologist - someone who actually knows about skin care.

It's organic, very affordable, it's minimalistic in its ingredients, and it doesn't break me out or aggravate my irritations. Oh, and the packaging is of my favorite color (it was made for me, yay !)

prescription strenght Polysporin??!! I've not heard of that one as a moisturizer before. Why do you use that?

i use nivea blue pot, yes its thick, yes its greasy, but it's really the only thing that even slightly quenches my scaly dry reptile skin

Are you satisfied with it tho? I've never tried clarins. I was stuck on Shiseido products for 15 years.

i use clinique moisturizer. in the winter my skin drys especially my forehead and brows. it works very well, and in the summer its humid so my skin sometimes gets greasy feeling when june hits. it has no scent which is why i use it, because scents bother me, and i have some what sensitive skin. i never put moisturizer on my face until i was 24 years old. i was to scared to break out. one pimple and id be all flustered inside. now im 26 and i break out here and there, usually with one pimple that just wont go away for a couple of months, its driving me crazy! i do love my clinique though, i never plan on changing.

Have you tried Mario Badescu Drying Cream? That stuff works like MAGIC! Pimples gone in 1 night or 2 for a stubborn zit but usually 1 night. I only breakout when its 'that time' from hormones.

Logona's "free" moisturizer. I have what they call the moisture cream but in reality it's a hydrating moisturizer, closer to milk than cream in consistency.

I wish I could get myself together to make my own lotions! I just worry I'd buy all the stuff to make them, do a batch or two and be like, "Oh cool!" but then get lazy and never make anymore and let the ingredients go bad...

I had started by making a whipped shea butter. The butter needed oils like jojoba oil to thin it out. One thing led to another with the addition of an emulsifier like gelmaker or lecithin and water to the oils and you've got a lotion! You can make a lotion from olive oil, lecithin and water!

The oils I use lasts about a year in a cool dry spot. The emulsifier will last about the same time. You don't have to buy giant containers and in reality, you can actually use most of the oils to cook with. Sweet almond oil and avocado oils I use are food grade. So is the flaxseed oil and olive. The only oils that are not are my jojoba and hempseed. You can buy some oils as vitamin suppliments like evening primrose or vitamin e or even the coenzyme q10. Buy the capsules. Buy small quantities, use them for cooking or as vitamin suppliments. None will go to waste. You can also add oils to existing moisturizers or creams as well. Christmas is around the corner and homemade creams and lotions and butters make a great present. Another product that requires oils is soaps. I use my oils to make soaps as well. Its a never ending chain of products.

Use: Olay's Sensitive Skin Moisturizer with SPF 15

Why: I like to use up my stuff before buying a new moisturizer

We bought it at Costco. I like the fact that it has SPF. I don't like the greasy feel, but heh, I'll explore once I finish the product.

I use Orlane Paris Extrait Vital Biological Emulsion. I adore it-- a little goes a long way and it's not greasy. Totally made my skin baby soft and didn't clog my pores. It's just fantastic. Worth the money.
