Okay, so I don't think I've ever said this before, but I'm 14  . Yes, I KNOW, 14! Lol

Anyways, I have a whole bunch of quetsions

1) I have MAJOR blackheads, onetime one got so big it finally exploded and I had a crader on my nose for 2 months! So I did a search and someone said to put a concentration of Vitamin A on it. Where would I get this, and how would I get it on a 14 year old girl's budget?

2.)I have some acne marks aroud my jaw, cheeks, and neck and I've been hearing about glycolic acid peels. Again, where do I get this and how would I get it on a 14 year old budget?

Thanks so much guys! I appreciate it!

HI,

To answer your first question, I'm not familiar with putting Vitamin A on blackheads, sorry. But my advice to you is to treat blackheads with BP (benzoyl peroxide)- Neutrogena makes an On-the-spot acne treatment with 2.5 BP or you can get a higher strength of BP from your doctor with perscription. Salicylic acid is really good for blackhheads- La Roche Posay makes a good spot treatment called: Effaclar K. Both of these products are reasonably priced at your local drugstore.

To answer your second question: Glycolic Acid is very good for getting rid of post acne red marks. Usually peels can be done at home, although I have no experience with them. I think it would be best to get them done at a spa or derm's office but that would be quite expensive. An alternative for you would be to use Glycolic Acid products (toners, creams, lotions). I SWEAR by Neostrata's line of glycolic products. You can try:

Neostrata's Toning Solution 8%, Smoothing cream 8% and Daytime Renewal Matifying fluid 8%.

Alpha Hydrox also makes a product called AHA Souffle 12% Glycolic AHA. This contains a higher dosage of glycolic acid at 12%.

All of the above products are reasonably priced (nothing over $40).

I hope you find something that works for you! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I like the glycolic peels from makeupartistschoice.com. I use the 40%. You can use a lower % when you first start out and if you think your skin is sensitive. Clearasil Blackhead clearing pads worked well on my blackheads. Highly recommended.

definitely try the neutrogena products, they're cheap and work well.

for your blackheads, i suggest an exfoliator, mine is from the neutrogena deep clean line.

i also suggest once or twice a week a clay mask (green; but if your skin is sensitive you may have to use white/kaolin instead) because it's gonna clean your skin more deeply than a daily cleanser and help you get rid of those annoying blackheads.

don't forget to clean your face twice a day, trust me it helps a lot especially if you have oily skin.

i don't like them much, but people around me swear by them, it's those strips you're supposed to put on your nose and leave for a few minutes. they do work really well and i remember they left my nose without a single blackhead left. i think they're from neutrogena too.

i don't know about Effaclar K, but the moisturiser Effaclar is really good, it's a bit more expensive, but still affordable. that's my HG.

I say for a spot treatment go with the Neutrogena BP stuff..the Effaklar spot treatment did NOTHING for me (I think it´s too gentle on the nasty blackheads lol)

I started a thread about this, but I have to say it again. Clearasil Ultra Deep Pore Treatment Pads worked wonders for me. It cleaned out the blackheads on my nose, deep cleaned pores in general and I haven´t had a single pimple since I started using them. Unless you have sensitive skin, give them a try (they´re cheap too!)

I have had good results with glyocolic peels too, as well as Microdermabrasion. I use Makeupartist´s choice 30% Glycolic Acid Peel, and Mary Kay Microdermabrasion cream. Use this on old scars, and for new scars I swear by Mederma (pretty cheap also, and I heard Scar Zone is a similar product)
