I'm a long time reader, new member!

I have tried lots of different types of sunscreens but have not found one that protects my light skin and doesn't irritate.

I just found the 2011 sunscreen guide by the EWG, and was looking at picking up one of the top rated sunscreens, by dermagenics. Has anybody used it? Here is the page on EWG.

Also, what are your favorite sunscreens, particularly physical sunscreens? (I'm just too sensitive for the non-physical ones...)

Thanks

I haven't tried a baby sunscreen - never thought of that! Is there one in particular you would recommend?

Thanks

Mmm, any really they are all usually not harsh and high SPF.  My boyfriend looks like casper and he uses our daughter baby sunscreen and he never burns.

One is a store brand and the other is banana boat baby or kids or something like that, I've never used anything on that list tthough

There is an ingredient (that I have yet to identify) in many sunblocks that my skin reacts to. I can wear Banana Boat Baby... that's pretty much it.  Once I found one that worked for me I didn't switch off because the resulting hives were not worth me trying any others out.

Thanks for your help Bonnie - I will definitely check out the banana boat baby, thanks for the tip!

I think I may be allergic to something in most sunscreens too, because my skin always gets itchy and irritated... I might just try the dermagenics and banana boat and see how they compare.

You can definitely use kids sunscreen, the formula is just lighter to sink in more quickly, that's all. I don't know those brands mentioned, in terms of sunscreen i've tried Vichy, it's quite good but it didn't work for my face. Neutrogena is okay. Roc also has good sunscreens. I highly recommend you stay away from Garnier, i reapplied every 10 minutes because the sun was so harsh where i was (south of France), but i still burnt my skin.

My cult favorite for a few years now is La Roche Posay, because their line for oily skins is so light and milky in texture my face agrees with it and i want to apply it on my body. It's a semi physical and chemical sunscreen by the way.

The purest physical sunscreen i found was by Avene, but goodness the texture was just so thick it was impossible to apply on an even coat on the body. I even tried it on my face, sure i didn't have to reapply but my skin felt dehydrated and just like it couldn't breathe. I gave up on it, i so wanted to love it but it's just too hard to work with.
