My skin gets really oily a lot. I've tried different cleansers, but all they do is make my face feel really dry and cause it to get oilier. Any tips?

Have you tried blotting papers throughout the day? I have oily skin, and those seem to help me quite a bit.

Most skin care products for oily skin have a lot of alcohol in them, specifically SD40 alcohol, which strips the acid mantle from the skin and is very drying which often kicks the sebaceous glands into overdrive so they produce even more oil. You need products which will hydrate the skin without using oils (especially mineral oil) and that don't contain harsh alcohols. I have found products that is fabulous for oily skin. I realize this isn't an advertising forum, so you can visit if you want more info. www cosmetics-hair com

Good Luck!

only cleanse twice daily. once in the morning and once at night. If u cleanse too much your skin will produce even more oil. Make sure moisturise also, even though your skin is oily. Your skin still needs to keep hydrated. Oily skin does not always equal hydrated skin.

I know this sounds wierd, but use milk of magnesia. I tried Phillips brand, just Regular (not mint or fruit). all i do i shake it, and use a cotton ball on my t-zone and pat it on. keeps me shine free all day. Trust me, THAT is a feat!

Lush also has a product with milk of magnesia in it for oiliness fyi.

Oil Cleaning Method supposedly reduces oil production. I've tried washing with just water, and that has helped make my face less oily but it clogged my pores >.< I think using a gentle cleanser is the best way to go.

products with salicylic acid helped to normalize my skin quite a bit. stridex pads for senitive skin after cleansing are helpful and a good oil free moisturizer should do the trick.

I have oily skin and ever since I started cleansing my face for 30 seconds at a time, my skin's gotten a lot better. I used to just sort of throw on the cleanser and swipe around a bit, then rinse off. now, if I take the time to work it around for 30 seconds minimum, it really helps!

I have found most men wash their face one time a day and that is when they shower or if they are going out they will shower and wash it again. I would recommend a extra strength facial wash and extra strength cleansing beads be used in your am routine. A product line that has no alcohol in their products. This will not dry your face out. There are a few small companies advertising at the Market Place check them out and go on their site and contact them or check out the ingredients.

well, here's what i do , i have a combo&sensitive skin.

i wash my face twice a day with alep soap, it's very gentle and i can let it hang under the shower.

i moisturize with a non comedogenic, shine control cream. an oily skin produces too much sebum, but it doesn't mean it doesn't need moisture, on the contrary !! oily skins can be dehydrated. i currently use La Roche Posay Hydraphase(normal to combination dehydrated skins), and also like the Effaclar moisturizer.

if you have combo skin you might wanna need another moisturizer for your dry cheeks.

i exfoliate every 2/3 days, with a gentle exfoliator from neutrogena.

once or twice a week, i do a green clay mask (20 minutes). i sometimes mix it with white clay which is more gentle.

for the little annoying white pimples >_<, i have a good solution : a bottle filled with coconut oil and some drops of tea tree oil. tea tree oil stinks IMO but the results are great so i endure the smell.

avoid alcohol in your products, search for salycilic acid in them.

I;ve been using aloe vera to cleanse my face after I wash off all my MU. It;s been helping my oil production a lot. If anything it will help with redness in your face, since aloe vera reduces redness on skin.

A greasy skin needs frequent peeling to remove the dead cells from the skin and to penetrate better the products. i recommend u a regulating oil-free product to regulate the oil of the skin and to maintain ur natural shine of ur skin . The frequent and good cleaning helps the oily skin..i recommend u the products with aloe vera (her faculty of infiltration until the inferior layers of skin)

Hi again, aloe vera is very good for all skin types. You are one smart person that has discovered the secret. Keep up the good work on your skin
