I used to have soft silky hair, but since I've been dyeing it, plus straightening it in the front nearly everyday, and occasionally blow drying it, its not so silky anymore :icon_roll . Is there anything that I can do (that wont fade the dye really quickly--its red and really hard to keep from fading) to sortof, revitalize it?

i dunno really, u could try finding a better shampoo for dry coloured hair, and deep condition aswell. maybe use a smoothing balm to ur hair when its damp or if u have dry split ends use a dry end serum.

I have the same problem and over the past year have been trying to get it back to normal. I do a weekly DEEP treatment and use ALOT of conditioner (both are not drugstore). I find that if you do any sort of chemical processing it is SOOO important to use good conditioners and treatments! HTH :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The same thing happened to me. I was dying my hair all the time plus using an iron to make it super straight. My hair turned into straw. I couldnt even touch it with it make a crackle noise. You know what I did? And you may not want to do this but I was fed up. I cut my hair kinda short, and I dyed it back to it natural color. after that I got it cut a little at a time every month. It took about a year but now people tell me I have beautiful hair. I also forgot to mention I used a deep conditioner and sometime I kept it on all night. I now have nice shiny silky hair again. :clap Good luck.

Def get a reg trim and use a deep conditioner-since your hair is red(fades easily) find one that helps resist fading too. I really like Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner and Reconstruct/Repair. Is it possible for you to take a break from the styling tools for a little while. Also some suggest not to shampoo everyday-every other day or even once a week.

Even though there are many products to treat dry hair, most of them will just coat the texture of your hair to make it feel and look better but in reality, the hair that is damaged won't recover 100%.. In this case all you have to do is CUT IT. My hair is very damaged from bleaching and dying and I have found that John Frieda's Secret Weapon is the best as a leave-in condition and straightening product. It will eliminate all the frizz in your hair and will coat it with something that will make it feel like your hair has recovered all its natural oils. Check out my topic named "My comments on John Frieda's Secret Weapon FRIZZ-EASE", I posted pictures of the results.. maybe that's what you want to achieve.

Good luck!

I have the exact same problem. Fried hair. My hair stylist actually told me no more highlights for a year. Let my hair grow out healthy.

All good suggestions! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

You definitely want to lay off the iron, and get regular trims. Biolage hydratherapie conditioning balm is a great daily use 'deep' conditioner. You might also want to try Paul Mitchell's Hair Repair treatment & a good heat protectant for when you use your iron (Matrix Sleek.Look iron smoother is a popular spray) :icon_wink

I agree also... I think that the heat could be the culprit. I would suggest limiting your usage of heat and deep condition with a really good deep conditioner. I love Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask.

okay.. i'll try some of those products.

i certainly wont be cutting my hair though. hahaha. and i hate my natural colour to death. lol.

but maybe i'll grow my bangs out so i dont have to iron them anymore... :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

First, stop everything you're doing. Stop dyeing, stop using product, stop everything. I recommend daily hot oil treatments (which can be purchased in discount and drugstores...VO5 and Pantene are two brands that I know of). Purchase some deep moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and use that on a daily basis prior to the hot oil treatment. See a hairstylist for a consultation on a healthier cut.

Agree with all advices.

I did the deep treatment weekly and trim my hair regularly.

I also cut back using the hair dryer and stop dyeing, and now I get my strong silky shiny hair back.
