How do you tell how far over you need to pluck from the outside and inside, and how do you shape them?

also give me some tips & pics

  • Step One: Get a pencil. Just a regular orangey-yellow pencil like you had in school, only not chewed. Oh, and a whole one, not one that has been sharpened to a stump.Hold the eraser end to the left corner of your nose, point end straight up, like in my sad little drawing there. (I gave up trying to give it hair, so deal with the baldness.)
  • That, my dear is where your eyebrow should start. Hairs to the right of that pencil, but to the left of where the other brow starts, should be removed. (This is not high school; this is not a game of "he who passes out first loses an eyebrow," do not use a razor and do not let a buddy do this for you. That caveat is not for the ladies.)
  • Step Two: The Arch. Line the pencil up starting at the corner of your nose, and making a straight line through the centre of your pupil when you are looking straight ahead - as in the next wacky little bald drawing. ("Deal!" I say again.)
Do not make this a big scary point; it should be a gentle curve and this, where the pencil is crossing your brow, is where it should reach its aphelion/apogee/apairabrows whatever you call it (the farthest point on a curve; I'm sure there is an answer here, but I am so not spending the time looking for it).
  • Step Three: The End. A straight line from the corner of your nose, past the outside corner of your eye will show where your perfect eyebrow should end.

Those are really good instructions! I'm probably not a good person to answer the question, since I just grab my tweezers and a 10x magnification mirror and go to town on my eyebrows! No stencil, no powder. I don't have that much to pluck though, just a little shaping, but I'm always surprised that they end up nicely arched and symmetrical.

eyebrow is supposed to start directly above the inner corner of your eye

The highest point should be just a little beyond the outer corner of the iris and should taper off to the end. the arch is supposed to hit where the middle of your pupil is!

Bear in mind, less is more. Don't pluck out anything that you are not willing to live without for the rest of your life! Just because your eyebrows have always grown back in the past, doesn't mean they will this time.

Eyebrows aren't the best way to follow a fashion trend. Find a shape that suits your face, and stick with it. If in doubt, speak to any woman who is a victim of over-zealous tweezers, and let her frighten the life out of you. Remember, you can always take a few hairs out tonight, and then a few tomorrow night to avoid overdoing it.

To create a shape

Brush your brows straight up with an old toothbrush or an old mascara wand, and then level off the top, smoothing along with the brush. If you have a few extra-long hairs, don't pluck them. Trim off about half of the offending hairs so they lie down properly.

Next, apply either an ice cube or some baby teething gel to numb the area (it will probably still hurt - such is the price for beauty!)

The inside edge of your eyebrow should align with the inner corner of your eye.

The easiest way to work out how long the tail of your eyebrow should be is to imagine the under-eye line continued to where it would meet with the eyebrow.

The arch of your eyebrow should follow the curve of your upper eyeline

Don't pluck out anything that you are not willing to live without for the rest of your life Get plucking

First take out any stray hairs in the middle bit above your nose. It will help you get used to the feeling of plucking the hair because it is usually less sensitive here than above the eyes.

Do your best eyebrow first, and then you can use it as a guide for the other one.

Start plucking from underneath the eyebrow, working from the inside, by the nose, to the outside. Grip the hair firmly and smoothly, and pull it in the direction in which it grows. If you quickly yank it out, you stand a chance of the hair breaking off under the surface of the skin and becoming infected. Painful and not very attractive!

Do a single hair at a time.

If you need to take unruly hairs off the top line of the eyebrow, be extremely careful and only do a bit at a time. Taking from the top of the eyebrow is normally against the golden rule, but it's sometimes necessary to give a graceful line. However, it can drastically change the shape of your eyebrow and remember - it doesn't always grow back! Use extreme caution: if in doubt, don't do it, there is a reason for it being the golden rule!

When you think you are done, hold a mirror in front of you, and look into another mirror behind you. This is the best way to see if everything balances.

And perhaps the best advice would be, if you really haven't got a clue, pay a professional to do it for you and then you can tidy up the strays!

Thankyou it worked: I reshaped them. I think I went little crazy on the left side but that hair will grow back within a month. Yay Happy. I only cleaned the bottom and sides, did not touch the top hair and do not want to.

Thanks for the great tips. Mine are way too thick and i'm always looking for the right way to do them. I will give them a try now. thanks!!
