Q: I've heard so much about alpha lipoic acid. What is it exactly, and how does it work?
A: Alpha lipoic acid is a metabolic antioxidant (it's water and fat soluble), meaning that it's able to penetrate and deliver nutrition to all parts of the cell when added to face creams, resulting in increased cellular energy and repair (read: healthier-looking skin). As we age, our cells lose the ability to repair themselves as efficiently as they did when we were young, resulting in tired, dull, and sagging skin. When the cells are able to repair themselves and regenerate at an enhanced rate, fine lines are softened, large pores are less noticeable, and the skin's texture appears smoother.
