Help!! Over the weekend I decided to try to wax my upper lip and after peeling off the wax I noticed that my skin came off as well. Its been 4 days and my upper lip has become a very red scar. I skipped out on work for a few days becasue I was so embarrased. Today when I got ready for work, I was able to conceal the redness but you could tell there is a scar underneath. Does anyone know of a good source for concealing this? I've been pondering using the "asprin mask" but I just read its good for acne. Anyone know if the asprin mask would be good for this? I've been applying tons of aloe vera, vitamin E, and bacitracin. I know only time will heal it but I don't want to go back to work on Monday looking like I did today.

Aspirin is salicylic acid. I mean you might make it more irritated red worse. Just apply the aloe vera, let it heal first. Then concealer to cover it for work. Let it heal before getting a skin lightener or scar remover.

OK I HAD THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM:

first of all next time use NAIR HAIR CREAM FOR FACE...it is so gentle i promise.

ok to conceal, green conclear, normal concealer, foundation.

make sure you moisturizer it because it WILL get flaky and look like a big patch of dry skin. I used triple antibotic cream and it seemed to work. and by the way be prepared for irritation in that area everytime u choose to remove the hair...because it may just happen.

ps. next time..... make sure you pull across as opposed to UP! thats what screwed me over.

I remember a very similar post.

Do you use Retin A or similar? Or are you on Accutane?

If so, this could account for losing some skin, where wax was applied.

If you are using a Retinoid, plucking or threading won't hurt the skin - not sure how Nairn with affect facial skin.

I would consider applying polysporin or aloe vera on sore area, then make up to cover.

Thanks all so far for the advise. Very helpful. I dont use Retin A or Accutane but have used both many years ago. I am using Strivectin right now. My normal routine is Nair and it workes good. Just wanted to try something like waxing more long term. The first few days was basically an open wound with oozing and scabbing (yuck). Now its just a deep red scar with some scabbing. My only worry right now is the scar (which covered by makeup) that still shows. Any suggestions on how to cover a scar good?

The best thing you can do is apply a triple antibiotic cream and keep it clean. Try not to put any makeup in the area. It sounds like your skin lifted. It could be caused by many things...wax could be too hot, sensitive skin, that time of the month, acne products etc... It's happened to me and it sucks!

Ah that's horrible, hope it's better soon!

Have you tried bleaching it? I tried immac on my face before and it was just stubbly again the next day!

Aloe Vera or maybe even some Neosporin to help heal it quikly and use a good concealer. Other than that, there's not much you can do besides be patient. Sorry about that....

I would keep doing what you're doing. Don't let the scab come off if you can. Don't do anything else hense the chance of infection. Just suck it up at work. This stuff happens to everyone. Tell people your curling iron slipped.....lol.

OUCH, is the first thought that cameto my mind! I wish you a speedy recovery=) Try to keep just aloe on it....

That's happened to me before, I got burnt with wax and I plan to thread from now on...I just use Aloe Vera and Vitamin E Oil to get rid of the 'scar'.
