Bought the whole kit for waxing today from Sally. Warmer, wax, applicators, strips. I tried a small test patch on the back of my forearm and it worked fine. Then I tried to do my chin and nothing!! None of the hair came off on the strip. I then tried another section of facial hair--same thing. What am I doing wrong? Any advice? Maybe my facial hair is too coarse?

Wish I could help you, but I've never waxed my face before. Maybe if you somehow softened the facial hair first?

I've waxed my legs and tried my chest... OUCH!! lol But I would have thought coarse was not a problem... Did you cleanse first, if not maybe the hair had too much moisturizer on it?? and slipped through the wax....

Coarse hair is not the problem at all. I have the same thing from Sally's. I bought the 'All Purpose Honee' and it works great. Maybe it's not hot enough? You should ask the sally's salesperson.

yes i also think that u should the sales person as it never happend with me

Make sure you prep your skin, I sometimes put a little (whisper) of baby oil on the area that I'm waxing. Feel free to contact me, I wax everything.

sounds like you might have a prep issues. how did you prepare you skin for waxing? how long is the hair you're trying to remove?

is the hair long enough??

be sure to press the strip to be sure the wax grabs the hair and put the wax on in the direction of the growth and pull in the opposite direction.

good luck!!

i was going to ask the same thing... how long is the hair that you are trying to wax. it just may be too short to wax at the moment.

if the hair is about 1/4" long it should be long enough to wax. Be sure to clean the skin before trying to wax to get oils and makeup off, apply wax in direction of hair growth, pull skin taut with one hand, and with the other hand, pull the wax strip in the opposite direction of hair growth. You may have to tweeze strays, but it should take the majority of hair off. If not, you may be using the wrong wax, but for facial waxing, the all purpose honee wax mentioned here should be fine. When you're trying to heat up your wax warmer, put it on 10, but drop it down to 6 or 7 for actual waxing. Sometimes I find that when the wax is too runny it won't pick up hair as well.

oh, also, I don't know if you purchased the muslin strips or the white papery sort of strips, but i've found that I can get better results with the non-woven ones like these:

I get the big ones that are meant for leg waxing and cut them up into smaller strips for facial waxing.
